 Richard Myers, CFSP

One of the most successful and nationally recognized funeral directors in the intermountain west, Richard Myers has established himself as a caring devoted funeral professional. He has served as President of the National Funeral Directors Association, where he established the Pursuit of Excellence Program - a national achievement recognition program for funeral homes. Richard has been recognized as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner by the Academy of Funeral Service Practitioners.

Richard is philanthropic in his community, volunteering his time and energy to the building of neighborhood, city and state programs and resources. His passion for our community is shown by his involvement in many civic organizations and he has served as Chairman or President of many organizations, including the Weber State University Board of Trustees, and The Chamber-Ogden-Weber, the Weber  County Fairgrounds Board and Ogden Pioneer Days.




Gregory R. Myers is the grandson of Elmer and Rosanne Myers, first generation Myers Mortuary ownership and eldest son of Richard and Gloria Myers, current owners of the Myers Mortuary Corporation who reside in North Ogden, Utah. 

Greg grew up in the basement apartment of the Ogden Myers Mortuary before moving to the North Ogden area. He graduated from Weber High School. He then continued his education at Weber State University before moving to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue his Mortuary Science degree at the University of Minnesota. While schooling in Minnesota he was employed by Arthur Murray's Dance School as a ballroom dance instructor and dance professional. He graduated in the spring of 1977 and returned home to work as a Funeral Director in Ogden. In the spring of 1978 Greg married Minnesota resident, Suzanne Myers. They purchased a home in the Ogden area on the east bench.

Greg moved to the Brigham City in 1985 to run the newly acquired Olsen-Myers Mortuary, where he serves as President of Myers Mortuary of Brigham  City. Greg is the father of three fine sons; Matthew, Marcus and Scott. Through his endless community service and work, Greg has continued to serve the Brigham City community with his excellence in mortuary care and service. He has initiated multiple creative programs such as explaining death to the children and/or grandchildren of the deceased, celebrating remembrance of those that have passed away with the Remembrance Christmas Tree and instating a Memorial Day remembrance "Balloon Launch". He also provides a free Christmas movie day at the Walker Cinemas in Perry as a community thank you to parents and their children. Greg and his staff are frequently seen at the Senior Citizen's Center serving meals, along with providing service for "Meals on Wheels". 

Greg and the Brigham Mortuary employees are yearly recipients of the "Pursuit of Excellence Award", a national honor that few mortuaries in the United States ever receive. The Brigham Myers Mortuary has also been the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce "Business of the Year" award. Greg is very active in the LDS church and has served multiple calling through quorums and presidencies. He served as a board member of the Utah Funeral Directors Association for six years, as president of the Brigham City Hospice, board member of the Chamber of Commerce, a Kiwanis member, and participates in the Brigham City Men's Golf Association. He truly loves golfing and is often seen at Eagle Mountain Golf Course perfecting his technique. Greg is active in snowmobiling, attending Jazz basketball games, and loves ballroom dancing. If given a moment to relax from the "busy-ness" of business, Greg enjoys traveling with his family and friends.




Shaun Myers, CFSP

Shaun Myers is the President of Myers Mortuary. He serves in many community, state and national capacities. In funeral service, he currently serves as an Executive Board Member of the National Funeral Directors Association and is the Chairman of the NFDA Preneed Task Force and member of the Spokesperson Team. He serves as a member of the National Funeral Service Foundation Board in Brookfield, Wisconsin.  He graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor degree in Mortuary Science in 1982.

Shaun has a great love of community and people. For many years, Shaun, Christina, his wife and their children have done many humanitarian aid projects in the Ogden Community and in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where they directed the fund-raising efforts and construction of a School and Tutoring Center for poverty stricken children. In 2005, the Myers family built a home for a destitute family in Guayaquil, Ecuador. 

 

"Our family feels we have an obligation to serve and give to our community in the most humble and sincere way”, said Shaun.  
 
Shaun serves in many community service organizations. He currently serves as the LDS Stake President of the Ogden Utah Stake, President of the Foundation for Hospice of Northern Utah and a board member of the McKay-Dee Hospital Foundation. He has previously served as President of the Weber State University Alumni Association, the WSU Wildcat Club; Mt. Ogden Rotary Club, Utah State Funeral Services Board and the Utah Funeral Directors Association. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees for Weber State University and as Committee Member of Ogden Pioneer Days. Shaun and his wife, Christina, have six children, Kjerstin, Katarina, Zackary, Annika (deceased), Daniel and Thomas.




Kent is the manager of Myers Mortuary of Layton. He and his family are residents of Syracuse, Utah. He was raised in Southeastern Idaho and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors degree in Family Science and Physiology. He also has a degree from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, where he was president of the student body and received the Presidential Leadership Award. He received the Mu Sigma Award from the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science for outstanding academic proficiency.

Kent has been a licensed funeral director since 1997. Kent has completed comprehensive training as a "Certified After-Care Specialist" from a nationally recognized funeral service professional, Doug Manning, PhD. In 2007 Kent Was recognized by the Academy of Funeral Service Professionals and received the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practioner. This certification demonstrated Kent's commitment to funeral service, continuing education and the compassion he has for the families he serves. Kent's care and dedication make him a valuable resource to the families he serves.

Kent is a member of the State of Utah EDEN (Electronic Death Entry Network) advisory board, where he participated in the formation of Utah's Electronic Death Certification program which became effective in August of 2006. He also enjoys being a judge for the Best of State Competitions for our state of Utah.  Kent was elected as a board member of the Utah Funeral Directors Association in 2008.

Kent and his wife Shelli have four beautiful children. He enjoys family activities, woodworking, sports, outdoor recreation, and music. He is also active in church, civic and community organizations. Under Kent's capable direction, Myers Mortuary of Layton was recently renovated and redecorated.




Stephen K. Johnston, CFSP

Stephen is the manager of Myers Mortuary of Roy, Utah. A native of Clinton, Utah, Stephen graduated from Clearfield High School and attended Weber State University and the University of Utah. Stephen graduated from California College of Mortuary Science, where he received the Presidents Award for his academic achievement. He also received the MuSigma Alpha Gold Key Award given by the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science for his outstanding high standards and dedication to the funeral service industry. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1972. Stephen is an expertly qualified and well rounded funeral director who is highly regarded by the families he serves. His special gift in the funeral home is his professional cosmetic ability in trauma restoration and major cosmetic restoration. His dedication, extensive training and experience qualify him as a funeral director who cares.

 

Stephen has one son and three grandchildren. He enjoys reading, playing golf and spending time with his grandsons. Stephen belongs to the Roy Lions Club and is a member of the Weber Chamber of Commerce.




Tracy grew up in Germany and South Carolina. He graduated from Arapaho Community College in Littleton, Colorado with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Mortuary Science. He is a current resident of West Haven, Utah.

He has been employed in the funeral industry since 1994 and has been a licensed funeral director since August 2000. Tracy is a Registered Certified Crematory Operator with the "CANA" Cremation Association of North America and he manages the Myers Mortuary Crematory. He received his Certified Funeral Service Practitioner from the Academy of Funeral Service Practice in 2006. Tracy is a very caring, compassionate and proficient funeral director.

Tracy and his wife Latrica have four children. He enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and cooking. He is actively involved in the scouting program and has been a scoutmaster for troop # 165.

He is also a member of the Share Support group. Tracy is a member of the BNI (Business Network International) and the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce where he graduated from Chamber's Leadership Academy.





Ed Roberts, CFSP

Ed has a deep roots in Northern Davis County. He is a native of Layton, and currently resides in Kaysville, Utah.Ed attended Weber State University and Stevens Henager Business College prior to his graduation with a degree of Mortuary Science from Cypress Community College in Cypress, California. He was licensed as a funeral director in 1985 with Myers Mortuary. He has served in many positions of responsibility during his career at Myers Mortuary including, manager of Myers Mortuary of Layton and head director of preparation. Ed found his career calling as a funeral director and has specialized in care of deceased individuals. His respect of the families he has the honor of serving and for their departed loved one makes him uniquely qualified as a funeral director who cares.

Ed has a special love of learning as exemplified by his commitment to be a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, a designation he earned from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service in 2006.

 



Reed has since retired from the Myers, but can still be seen helping around the Mortuary. He attended Weber State College and received his degree in 1966 from California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles, California.

He has been a highly respected funeral director who has served our community for more than 40 years. Reed especially enjoys providing his experience and professional expertise in serving families during their greatest time of need.

Reed has strong bonds of love for his wife Janice and their four children and nine grandchildren. He has been a member of the So. Ogden Kiwanis Club for 28 years. He served as club president in 1978 and 1979. Reed enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, organizing anything and fulfilling his church callings. Reed has had extensive experience in church service and leadership. He previously served as bishop of the Ogden 39th ward for ten years and is presently serving as South Ogden Stake Clerk.

Marcus Myers, CFSP 

Marcus A. Myers has established himself as a very honest, sensitive and caring Funeral Director. Marcus graduated from Box Elder High School in 2002 and from Mesa Community College in 2008 with a Degree in Mortuary Science. Marcus was married in 2006 to Melanie Scothern of Tremonton. They, along with their daughter, are now residents of Ogden City. Marcus is a graduate from the Leadership Northern Utah Academy sponsored by the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce which provides community service, networking opportunities, and fundraising for several charitable projects in Weber County. Marcus is a former graduate of Trigard University. Marcus Plans, organizes and participates in the annual Myers Mortuary Tombstone Ladies Golf Tournament every year held at Schneiders Riverside Golf Course.

 

Marcus has also been involved in "Relay for Life", helping to bring toys to young children in the burn unit at a hospital in Mesa, Arizona and delivering necessary supplies to families in the Phoenix area during Christmas of 2007. Marcus is a huge Utah Jazz fan and loves to play basketball, softball and golf. He is based out of the Myers Mortuary in Ogden and gets opportunities to work and learn from some of the best funeral directors in the country. He loves his family, assisting the bereaved during their time of need and serving his community.




Matthew G. Myers is the eldest son of Gregory and Suzanne Myers. Born in Ogden and raised in Brigham City, Matt, as he is known to family and friends, graduated from Box Elder High School in 2000. In September of that same year he flew to Tampa, Florida to serve a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. There Matt received the Joseph Smith Award for scriptural excellence. Upon his return to Utah he attended both Weber State University and Utah State University. In October of 2005, Matt fell in love with a vivacious and spiritual young woman which he met at the Brigham City Adult Ward named Kari Schellenbarger. Kari, a graduate of Box Elder High School also, served a mission in the Spanish speaking sector of the Boston, Massachusetts area. They married in January of 2006. Matt and Kari moved to Mesa, Arizona in the summer of 2007 so Matt could finish his degree in Mortuary Science. He graduated in May of 2008 and returned back to Brigham City to work with his father, Greg, in the Brigham City mortuary. Matt and Kari currently reside in Brigham City with their daughter Emma and are expecting their second. Both are eager for their new arrival. Matthew is diligently working to understand all the aspects of serving in and running a mortuary in Brigham City. In his spare time you will find Matt studying and analyzing stocks online which he loves dabbling in, and trading online on occasion. He is also an avid reader, currently enjoying "Jesus the Christ" for his fourth time. Matt enjoys golfing, church basketball, snowmobiling and skiing. He also joins his younger mortuary employed brother, Marcus, in being a huge Utah Jazz basketball fan.

Shawn Kotter    

 

Shawn B Kotter is a native to the Ogden area. As a child he loved roaming the hills of the Uintah bench and spending time outdoors. He is the son of Rey and Dian Belnap Wunderly, and the late Gary Kotter.

Shawn graduated from Bonneville High School and attended Weber State University where he played with the percussion ensemble and the marching band on the drum line. He then went on to graduate from the Utah College of Massage Therapy. Later he attended Cypress College in Southern California where he made the Dean’s List and graduated in the field of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director in the State of Utah since the fall of 2003 and with Myers Mortuaries since the spring of 2007.

Shawn currently resides in Clearfield with his beautiful wife Shannon and their three children, which are their pride and joy, Sara, Seth and Sadie. He has served in the bishopric in the Clearfield 1st Ward and is currently serving in the Sunday School as a teacher.

Music has always been a great love. Shawn started playing the drums back in the sixth grade and since 1997 has been playing with the Galloway Highlanders Pipe and Drums as a snare drummer.

Shawn is very pleased to be employed as a Funeral Director with Myers where he enjoys helping those families that are at such a tender and emotional time of their lives.

 



Laurie Vellinga Liddell is a native to the Brigham City area.

Laurie graduated from Box Elder High School and Dixie State College. She then went on to graduate from Cypress College in Southern California in the field of Mortuary Science. She has been a licensed funeral director in the State of Utah since the fall of 2007 and with Myers Mortuaries since the summer of 2007. She is also currently licensed in the State of California as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Laurie is currently a member of the Brigham City Rotary Club and has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellow award.

Laurie loves being able to lend a helping hand to families going through one of the hardest times of their lives and is pleased to be employed as a Funeral Director with Myers Mortuary.
