Daniel Lewis Dimick, husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, and adventure-seeker passed away suddenly near Mirror Lake in Summit County on Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
Born on March 3, 1952 in Price, Utah to Lewis and Betty (Taylor) Dimick; he married Ellen Jean (Jeanie) McCormick Bowers on November 12, 1978 on the beach in Kona, Hawaii; later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 19, 1980
Dan grew up in Wellington, UT collecting pop bottles, hunting prairie dogs, gardening with his mom, and pursuing all manner of small town adventures. He graduated with High Honors in 1970 from Carbon High School in Price, UT. This entrepreneurial man built wood docks for many marinas in Utah, owned and operated a Willard Bay marina, developed and manufactured cooking tools for camping, owned and operated residential and storage property, and pursued all sorts of profit producing activities.
A member of the LDS Church, he had a great love for the gospel and his savior. Dan also believed in service, showing great support for both his church and community. In addition to many appointments in his church, he served on the Mantua city council, served many times as a scoutmaster for Boy Scouts of America, supported the Box Elder County Landlord Association, and built water wells in Tanzania and Ghana with Hearts and Hands for Humanity. Through his choices and service to others, Dan aspired to transform from a mere caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly.
He loved adventure and worked in order to have fun, whether traveling to far-away places or exploring lakes and mountains in our region. If the wind was going to be in his face, he was always willing to go. In the pursuit of joy, he has leapt from mountains and planes and sped over land and water. We are all heart-broken that he has left our family too soon, but are grateful he died with the wind in his face as he cruised on his Harley through the beautiful Uintah mountains.
Dan was never without a story or moment to have a great conversation and share his wisdom. He is deeply loved by his family and friends; his joyful demeanor and can-do spirit will be missed by all of us. He is survived by Jeanie, his wife of over 38 years; son Michael (Dee) Dimick, Riverton, WY; daughter Emily (Chase) Morgan, Pleasant View, UT; stepson Justin (Laurie) Bowers, Sammamish, WA; stepdaughter Jennifer (Toby Young) Bowers, Sammamish, WA; grandchildren Joshua, Tommy, Chloe, and Haiden; step-grandchildren Caitlin, Cameron, Colton, Jonah, Noah, and Elise. He is also survived by four siblings; Janet Keele, Green River, UT; Elaine (Bill) Bowman, Wellington, UT; David (Linda) Dimick, Price, UT; and Donald Dimick, Clinton, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathryn Logemann.
Special Note from Jeanie: I will continue my journey with our family and know Yellow will be ready to meet Stripe, but it will be many years hence.
