Dennis Carl Barlow

Dennis Carl Barlow beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away February 7, 2018 at the age of 75 due to renal failure. He was born May 28, 1942 in Bountiful, Utah to Wilford Shreeve and Gladys Miller Barlow. He graduated from Bountiful High School. He attended BYU. He was a Missionary in the North Central States Mission.
He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as a Bishopric counselor, Stake YM President, Stake Missionary, Temple Worker and many other callings. He also served many years with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout leader, district chairman and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver award.
He enjoyed coaching his boys in little league baseball and football. His favorite nickname was Big D. He enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, archery, hunting, camping, and riding his 4-wheeler. He was an all-around fun-loving guy.
His first job was working for his dad at Barlow Furniture in North Salt Lake. He was employed by the Utah Highway Patrol for 22 years retiring in 1989. After his retirement he worked at Smiths & Edwards, Big Boy Toys and Sportsman’s Warehouse.
He was sealed to his eternal companion Patricia Ann Lovering on February 14, 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS temple.
He is survived by his wife Pat, his children Lori Kelley, Keli (Steve) Peterson, Brad (Kathleen) Barlow, Kevin (Nikki) Barlow, Scott (Megan) Barlow and Amanda (Nate) Thorsted. Brothers Larry (Tilly) Barlow & Rick (Judy) Barlow. 22 Grandchildren Courtnie Kawa, Jessie Lamb, Colby Kelley, Heather Browning, Jordan Parr, Darby Tims, Logan Barlow, Morgan Mayne, Ana Barlow, Noah Barlow, Lilly Barlow, Ella Barlow, Braiden Barlow, Savana Bland, Sutton Bland, Savylle Hodges, Hayden Barlow, Heston Barlow, Hudson Barlow, Camden Thorsted, Carter Thorsted and Preston Thorsted. Nine Great-Grandchildren and one on the way. Preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 11 am at the Ben Lomond 5th ward building 3350 N. 1050 E., North Ogden, Utah. Family and friends may gather Friday evening February 16, 2018, at Myer’s Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday at the church from 9:45 am to 10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden, Utah. Honor Guard presented by the Utah Highway Patrol.
