James Noel Cobia

James Noel Cobia, 80, passed away on April 12, 2017 in Ogden, Utah surrounded by his family. He was the son of James Anderson Cobia and Ruby Underwood. He went to School in Pocatello, Idaho and Provo, Utah. He graduated from Pocatello. He was a student at Pocatello College for two years.
He joined the Army in September 1959. He went to be a Parachutist, traveling in the States and Korea.
He married Patricia Black. They were later divorced. She raised their daughter, Christy. He then married Jean J. Drummond and they were married for 43 years. They lived in Ogden.
He was a carpenter by trade. Noel loved life. He was an outside person. He fished for trout and salmon. He hunted elk and deer and shot geese, ducks, pheasant, and turkeys. He was self-taught flint napper and made knives and leather sleeves embroidered with outside pictures. He painted and jeweled all of them. He made arrowheads and collected 191 pieces of arrowheads.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, his daughter-in-law, Ester Drummond, and his siblings; Linda Sewell, Dennis (Leslie) Cobia, Coleen (Jamie) Meyers, Betty Sue Pierce, Brenda (Brick) Rich, and Carol Cobia; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Steinbecker, his siblings; Kathy Jennings, Jim Cobia, Barbara Shepherd; and his stepsons; Russel Drummond and Greg Drummond.
The family would like to thank Russell from Hospice, Sandy Dowd, Ester Drummond, Linda Sewell, and Carie Hinckley.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, followed by graveside services at the Huntsville Cemetery
