Jean Elizabeth Fleming Hupp died March 25, 2011, at Legacy House of Ogden.
She was born March 25, 1917, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of George Thomas and Stella Anna Nelson Fleming.
Jean was educated in the Topeka schools, graduating from Topeka High School in 1935. She then attended Stricklerï¿½s Topeka Business College.
She married Walter Ora Hupp on July 25, 1936. They resided in Topeka until 1955 when a job transfer for Mr. Hupp took them to Kansas City, Missouri, where they lived until 1976. At that time they moved to Riverdale, Utah. Mr. Hupp died on January 9, 1983.
Jean went to work for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City as a tax examiner in 1967 and continued to work for the IRS in Ogden until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Washington Terrace. In addition, she was a Life Member of Beulah Chapter 34, Order of the Eastern Star in Topeka, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She enjoyed knitting, painting ceramics, and doing counted cross-stitch. She and her friend Jackie Toponce took two memorable road trips to California and Yellowstone.
Jean is survived by two sons and their spouses: Walter and Carla Hupp of Roy, and Craig and Diana Hupp of Kent, Washington. She is also survived by a brother, Dean Fleming of Topeka, Kansas, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Stephen B. Hupp, a sister, a brother, and twin great-grandsons.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy House, Ogden, and Advocate Hospice for the loving, compassionate care they gave to Jean. A special thanks goes to LaDawn Cox of Advocate Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 163 West 4800 South, Washington Terrace, Utah.
Family will greet friends at the church on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Memorial Fund at Community United Methodist Church in memory of Jean Hupp.
