Obituary

Margie Ann Keller Beckstead, 82, passed away December 1, 2017 of complications due to pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her family as she returned home to be reunited with her husband, two sons and other family members.

Ann was born in Mantua, Utah on April 29, 1935, to Leota Nelson and Lloyd Keller. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1954, moved to Salt Lake City to continue her education at LDS Business College, and worked at the LDS Church Office Building. Ann married Ashton Amasa Beckstead in the Logan LDS Temple Nov 17, 1955. She focused her energies as a mother and homemaker and later worked at Moore Business Forms for over 20 years, where she met many lifelong friends.

Ann’s greatest joy in life came from her children; Kelly, Terrie, Ryan, Julie, Darin, Kurt and Jeff. She worked tirelessly in support of Ashton’s dream of dairy farming, where they raised their family in Cache Valley. Together they set the example of love and service, hard work, and abiding testimonies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 1994, Ann and Ashton moved to semi-retire in St. George, Utah, where they relocated their dairy farm to a warmer climate. Unfortunately, her sweet husband passed away in 1997. Ann continued to live in St. George for the past 20 years where she filled her time being active in the community, serving in the temple and in various church callings. She was a volunteer at the St. George Chamber of Commerce and Tuacahn Amphitheatre for nearly 18 years. She was the type of person who loved to serve others, and was someone who was always happy and smiling. She made friends wherever she went and truly had an impact on the lives of all who knew her. Ann was an exemplary disciple of Christ and her greatest service was within the walls of her home.

Ann enjoyed frequently visiting her children for extended visits and planned her schedule around the events of her family. Her family was the most important thing to her including her testimony of Jesus Christ. She loved traveling with family and friends and was blessed to see many exotic places around the world. She was a gifted seamstress, fabulous cook, loved to read and sketch and was often found crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren. She set such an amazing example of faith, kindness and unconditional love. She was truly the most beautiful person and her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Geraldine Keller Grover; grandson, William Ashton Vickers; her son, Ryan, her husband, Ashton, and her son, Kelly Beckstead. She is survived by her brothers; Jay Keller (Marianna) of Perry, Utah and Preston Keller (Ruth) of Perry, Utah; and her five remaining children, Terrie Vickers (Brad), of Collinston, OK; Julie Ann Blauer (Kris) of Riverton, UT; Darin Amasa Beckstead (Kim) of Lewiston, UT; Kurt Keller Beckstead (Amy) of Centerville, UT, and Jeffery James Beckstead (Cicily) of Pleasant View, UT, daughter-in-law Jemmy Beckstead of Las Vegas; Ann had 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, the last of whom was born on the day of Ann’s passing.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the Pleasant View Stake Center 2975 North 1000 West, Pleasant View, UT on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Viewing at noon, service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Ann will be interred next to her husband and son in the St. George Cemetery 650 E Tabernacle St at noon on Friday, December 8, where a short graveside service will be held.
