Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Marian Wertz passed away, July 6, 2017 at age 91. Marian was born on January 2, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James Evans Anderson and Eva Leone Cleverly. She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from South High School in 1944. On January 17, 1945, she married the love of her life, Lt. Ralph Edward Wertz at Fort Douglas, Salt Lake City, UT. After his discharge from the Air Force, they made their home in Ogden, Utah. Together they nurtured and raised two children - Rodney and Diane. Marian was a devoted wife and mother. When the Korean war started, Ralph re-enlisted in the Air Force and Marian became the "military wife" who followed her husband around the world for the next 18 years. Upon his retirement, they returned to Ogden and established their home, on Cheyenne Circle, where family was always welcome. They pursued their interests and dreams - careers, talents, and travel. They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their marriage was later sealed in the Brigham City Temple.

Marian had a bright smile, a contagious laugh, and was a devoted friend. She taught primary and young women's classes and was a faithful visiting teacher. She had a strong work ethic and enjoyed being a telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. She retired with 17 years of service. Marian was also an artist who loved to paint with oils. She had a beautiful sense of color, line and design and her work is deeply appreciated by family and friends. Marian also loved to travel. She saw most of North America, Asia, and Europe. She always looked for the beauty, and noticed the people, and looked for what was unique about the places she was visiting. But the place she loved the most was Utah - the mountains, the blue sky, the changing seasons, the family oriented people.

Marian's biggest contribution in life was her unfailing devotion to her family. She blessed her family in ways too numerous to mention. She loved them with "all her heart" and found joy in serving them. In her life, she was the ultimate "energizer bunny". She just kept going and going. And now she runs to the waiting arms of her eternal companion.

Marian is survived by her children: Rodney (Debra C) Wertz, Syracuse, UT and Diane (Gene L) Drais, Twin Falls, ID., 13 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

Marian was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Ralph Edward Wertz, her parents and her siblings: Dorothy Jean Anderson and James Robert Anderson.

A special thank you is extended by the family to the caring staff of Pheasant View Assisted Living and by the remarkable staff of Bristol Hospice for their tender and loving care of Marian.

"Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels." Russell M. Nelson
