Matthew Stephen Harris
October 31, 1973 - July 7, 2017
Friday, July 7th was certainly a very sad day for the Harris family. Our beloved son, husband, brother, and friend, Matt Harris, died very quick and unexpectedly from a pulmonary embolism.

Matt was born on October 31, 1973 in Roseburg, Oregon to Stephen and JoAnn Hamblin Harris. He lived in Oregon just a short time then moved with his parents to Ogden, Clinton, and eventually settling in Roy when Matt was 5 years old. He attended North Park Elementary and Sand Ridge Jr High schools.

When he was 14 he moved with his family to England and lived there for 3 years. He wasn't particularly happy to move away from all his friends but he was a trooper and made the best of the situation. While there he attended the American high school at RAF Croughton where he lettered in football and also enjoyed track. When he moved back to Roy he graduated from Roy High School in 1991.

After school he worked at several different companies including Cerro Wire, Utility Trailer, and the US Forest Service. He was a CNC operator by trade. Eventually he became a self-employed handyman and worked on many different projects. He was very skilled at many tasks and could fix anything mechanical or electrical. He helped many family members and others with projects for little or no pay. He loved fishing and being in the outdoors.

On February 26, 2004 he married Yvonne Paraday in Ogden. Yvonne was one of the best things that happened to Matt in his life. They had their spats and arguments, but he mentioned on several occasions that Yvonne was his best friend and he was hers. He always tried to put on this gruff exterior persona but Yvonne and those who really knew him knew that he was just a big teddy bear with a soft heart. He had a few really good friends who were there for him in times of need whenever he needed help. And he likewise would go and help his friends any hour of the day or night.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne, his parents, his brother Andy, mother and father -in-law, Betty and Dale Smith of Sunnyside, UT. Brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many cousins, who loved and now miss him. He leaves a big hole in our hearts and we are going to miss him tremendously.

Funeral Services will be held at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West in Roy on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 am. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and prior to the services from 9:40 - 10:40 am on Thursday.
