At 91 years of age, Meriam Jenkins Stanger lived a good and full life and passed away peacefully on June 29, 2017 in Plain City, Utah in the home in which she was born. She was born on May 8, 1926 to Rulon Jenkins and Ellen Myers Jenkins. She attended Weber High School, Weber State College and earned her teaching degree from Utah State University and her Master’s degree from Brigham Young University. She was a teacher for many years in the Ogden School District and has been a great role model and believer in the importance of education. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner.
On June 17, 1947, Meriam married the late LaVor Wright Stanger Sr. in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Their six children are: Thayne (Victoria), Connie Winnie (deceased), Winn (Blanche), Don (Robyn), Michael (deceased), Joyce, Bud (Jan). She is the proud Grandma of 19 Grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Including spouses, the family numbers over 100. She is survived by her sisters Mildred Sparks and Ellen Tarran and was recently proceeded in death by her brother Quentin Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8th at the Plain City Stake Center, 4575 W. 2125 N. at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden and one hour before the funeral service at the Plain City Stake Center.
