Obituary

Patrick Freeland
02/15/1948-07/30/2017
WEST HAVEN - Husband, Dad, Grandpa, great friend and a great mechanic is how Patrick E. Freeland will be forever remembered. On July 30, 2017, after a short battle with leukemia, Pat passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1948 to Kenneth and Lucille Freeland, raised in Layton, Utah. He graduated from Davis High School and served in the Utah National Guard.
He loved horses and when he was a young boy he saved his school lunch money to buy his first horse, Julie Belles.
He married Ann Schmidt in Nov. 1969. They were married for 25 years and divorced in 1994. Together they raised three beautiful children Michelle (Brian) Winn, Jennifer (Brett) Barrow, and Brad Freeland. As a family they enjoyed camping and riding horses at Northfork and the Uintas. He instilled a love of horses and the sport of rodeo into his childrens lives.
He married Donnette Morgan and later divorced but they remained companions and loved spending time and traveling together.
He was a dad to three step children, Nichole Hennefer, Derrick (Audene) Hamblin, Tyler (Brenda) Hamblin. Pat’s traditional values of hard work and determination to get the job done is continually being passed down through to his fourteen grandchildren. He loved the western way of life and watching his children carry on the tradition of rodeo to their own families. He was known for always being an outdoor enthusiast camping, raising livestock, hitting the dirt roads on his four-wheelers and finding treasures.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, companion Donette, two brothers Douglas and Michael Freeland. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Odle and brother Wayne Freeland.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Intermountain Leukemia fund.
A celebration of his life will be August 26, 2017 at the West Haven park 2825 W. 3300 S., West Haven, Utah from 3:30-5:30 PM.
