William Harris Obituary

On Wednesday, June 29, 2022, William David Harris, loving husband, and father of seven children, passed away in his home, at the age of 91. David was born November 3, 1930, in Boise, Idaho to William Harvey and Mary Harris. David grew up working on his family farm and enjoyed riding his pinto pony and performing stunts such as riding on the pony's back and teaching him to jump.

David served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1950 to 1952 in New York and Pennsylvania. He enjoyed involvement in the Church Cumorah Pageant during his mission.

David served two years in the Army as a Private First Class, serving during the Korean War. David became sick with spinal meningitis while at Fort Lewis in Washington, so he was confined to the hospital while his unit was deployed to Korea.

On June 25, 1956, David married Carolyn Hyndman and they were sealed in the Logan Temple. In their 66 years of marriage, they raised three sons, Michael, Jeffrey, and Steven and four daughters Joan, Colene, Janet, and Renee. They are grandparents to 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

David had a terrific sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and laugh. He had a wonderfully boisterous laugh that would fill a room and was instantly recognizable. David had many passions and interests. He was an avid and constant reader with knowledge on a wide number of topics from history to art and beyond. He loved gardening and from landscaping to vegetables and flowers he had beautiful gardens and fresh produce. David developed a love of painting later in life and attended art classes at the community college. He painted in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. His art was treasured by friends and family but after selling 30 pieces of art he decided to keep his favorites and create special gift paintings for friends and family.

David was preceded in death by his father, Harvey, and his mother, Mary. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his seven children, Michael, Joan, Colene, Janet, Renee, Jeffrey and Steven. He has three living sisters, Fay Briscoe-Walker, JoAnn Spell, and Marlene Austin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1245 S 1175 E, Clearfield UT, 84015.
