Obituary

Adelbert (Del) Francis Thinnes, 89, left this life to return to the loving arms of his Father in Heaven after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Del was born on July 17, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Cornelius Frank Thinnes and Florence Loretta Seibold. He was raised in the Catholic Church and attended Saint Joseph Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. He married Lorene Fotheringham and was later divorced. Together they had one son. He then met and married the love of his life, Cora Elizabeth Osmond and was married for 64 years; after the first few years of marriage, two Sister Missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints knocked on their door, the rest is history! He was baptized and was later sealed to his sweetheart for eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. With this union, he was gifted with three additional sons and one daughter from Cora's previous marriage. Together they had two more sons and three daughters totaling ten children in all. He lived in Ogden most of his life; they moved to Bear River City where he has resided for the past 15 years.
Dad worked as a mail carrier for the USPS. He had a way with numbers and could recall addresses from his various postal routes; he was meticulous with his bookkeeping and loved serving as ward clerk for several different bishops. He loved serving in various callings in the church.
Del is survived by his loving wife Cora, children Rick (Cheryl) Thinnes of Kaysville, Lynda Call Hadley of Roy, Gary (Juana) Womack of Pleasant View, Ron (Anna) Thinnes of Idaho, LaVerna (Bob) Gray of Hooper, Randy (Stella) Thinnes of North Ogden, Dixie Thinnes of Colorado, and Debbie (Paul) Widdison of Hooper, 40 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lowell Thinnes, two sons Clare Womack and Larry Womack, and three grandchildren.
