Obituary

June C. Britton

June Capener Britton, 93 passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Perry, UT.
June was born June 24, 1923 in Garland, Utah a daughter of Clara Oyler and Samuel William Capener.
She attended Garland Elementary, Bear River Jr. High and graduated from Bear River High School. After graduation, she continued to work on the family farm. June also got a job at the Sugar Factory in the snack bar. She was later offered a job at the telephone company.
June visited her brother Wayne Capener and his wife Eleanor in Hayward, CA and was able to get a job at Moore Dry Dock and Ship Yard in Oakland, CA. She met Merle Rudolph Britton who was working in the joiner shop at the shipyard. They soon began dating and they were married September 1, 1943 in Garland, UT.
Merle returned to the University of Idaho to finish getting his degree in Forestry after the War was over. Merle worked for the US Forest Service and later for the Department of Agriculture in West Texas, the coastal mountains and central valley of California and finally Western Washington, moving the family every 4 to 5 years as promotions became available.
While living in Western Washington June and a neighbor joined a softball league through the city parks department. They played on this league several summers. She was asked to coach a girls' softball team one summer. June really enjoyed doing this. In 1966 June started working for Boeing. She worked for Boeing for 20 years on airplanes, hydrofoil patrol boats, and minuteman missiles. June was glad to have a job when Merle died February 23, 1978, it gave her a purpose and something to do each day. In 1998 June moved to Brigham City.
June loved her family, church, enjoyed playing softball, golf, gardening, reading and traveling. She was a good friend to everyone and everyone loved and adored her sweet personality. June will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
Surviving are her son Richard William Britton of Kirkland, WA; sister Connie Parsons, Brigham City; many nieces and nephews, and many other family members.
Preceded in death by her husband Merle; parents; siblings: Don Capener; Jack Capener; Wayne Capener; Daryl Capener; Fern C. Hall; and in Oct 2016 Harold Capener.
