Obituary

Richard H. Stephens

Sunday, May 14, 2017, Richard "Dick" Stephens passed away due to complications from a fall. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Richard Harold Stephens was born on September, 26, 1937, in Ogden, UT., and was the third of four children born to Marjorie Ray & Frederick Leland Stephens.

On October 21, 1964, he married Kathleen Mower in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children and resided in South Ogden for 39 years, and then moved to Wellsville, UT in 2003 where they currently reside and have been married for 52 years.

Richard graduated from Weber High School and then received his Associates Degree from Weber College. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education, as well as a Master's Degree in Media from Utah State University.

Richard taught history and social studies at Roy Jr. High School for 32 years. He also worked as a switchman for the railroad and spent many summers working as a professional painter. He served in the Utah National Guard and on the Board of Adjustments for several years for South Ogden City.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the Western States Mission and then later served as both a stake missionary in the South Ogden Stake, and a service missionary at the Utah State University Employment office. Richard also served faithfully in various ward callings throughout his life and was currently serving as a secretary in the Sunday School.

He was a great example to all who knew him.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his classic Chevy truck, and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carol Saxton, and his grandson Aaron Jason Anderson. Richard is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kathie) M. Stephens, children Laurie Anderson (Mark), Rebecca Jensen (John), Brian Stephens (Diane), and Kim Labrum (Craig), thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Lee Stephens of Washington, UT., and sister Donna Belarde of Hurricane, UT.

The viewing will be held Friday, May 19th, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT., and from 9:30-10:30 on Saturday, May 20th, 2017. Funeral services will be held following the viewing at Myers Mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20th, 2017. Interment at Lindquist Washington Heights Cemetery in South Ogden.
