Obituary

Eugene “Gene” Dalpias
February 8, 1935 - November 2, 2017

Eugene “Gene” Dalpias passed away peacefully in Ogden on Thursday, November 2, at the age of 82. He was born to Victor and Ester Dalpias on February 8, 1935 in Ogden. Gene married Dolores Brown in 1955 and together they raised 5 children.

Gene worked at General Mill Flour Mill for 10 years until it closed, and then at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 31 years. The last 6 years of government service were at Kadena Air Force Base in Japan.

Gene was a founding member of St. James Catholic Church and lived his faith for his entire life. He is remembered for his outgoing nature, his ability to strike up a conversation anytime, anywhere. He loved being surrounded by family and teasing his grandkids and great-grandkids. Gene was raised on a farm and never lost his love of being outside and playing in the dirt. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, watching his Westerns and sporting events. He traveled the world, but was especially content at home with family.

Gene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores; his sister Frances (Don) Bird and brother Jerry (Stv) Dalpias; his five children: Dave (Chris) Dalpias, MaryAnn (Steve) Wriedt, Tina Dalpias, Jim (Donna) Dalpias, Linda (John) LeCain; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris and brother Ernest.

A viewing will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. (Rosary will be at 7p.m.) at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 11th at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 No. Harrison Blvd., Ogden. The burial and graveside service will be held in the Ogden City Cemetery following services.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you donate to St. James Building fund.
