Obituary

Walter Isaac Pase, Jr., age 84, passed quietly away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his daughter’s home with his wife and family by his side.
He was born November 29, 1932 in Thomas, West Virginia, a son of Sophia Mersing and Isaac Walter Pase, Sr.
Walter served his Country in the Korean War in the Marine Corps until 1954.
He married his sweetheart, Marilyn Nelsen, on September 27, 1962 in the Logan LDS Temple.
After attending the School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, South Dakota, Walter was as a Field Service Engineer for Thiokol Chemical Corporation in Utah and Georgia. He worked with the testing of solid fuel rockets. He then joined AMPEX Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama working at Redstone Arsenal on contracts which included the Saturn and Apollo programs, and trips to the launch site at Cape Canaveral. He then transferred to the Las Cruces, New Mexico, NASA site, in 1987 and worked there for 9 years. After retiring, he worked on his daughter’s farm with animals and children.
Walter enjoyed researching and teaching family history and genealogy. He served with the Marine Corps Honor Guard for Funerals in Las Cruces through the Marine Corps League in Las Cruces, NM. He was also a member of the American Defenders of the Bataan and Corregidor Society in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Walter was an outdoors enthusiast, a great cook, enjoyed crossword puzzles, knew a lot of trivia and had a story with each fact.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Nelsen Pase; daughters: Patti (G. Todd) James, Austin, TX; Megan Marie (John Stranigan) Pase, Beltsville, MD; Tara Leigh (Brian Bramel) Pase, Tracys Landing, MD; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one brother Charles Pierce (Shirley) Pase.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Gregory Walter Pase, 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
A viewing will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, UT, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary.
Interment will be at 12 Noon in the Brigham City Cemetery, 325 South 300 East, Brigham City with Military Honors Accorded by the Combined Veterans from Box Elder County.
A memorial service in Maryland will be held on December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 Clyde Jones Rd., Sunderland, MD.
