Richard Myers, CFSP

One of the most successful and nationally recognized funeral directors in the Western United States, Richard Myers, CFSP, is a caring and devoted funeral professional. He served as President of the National Funeral Directors Association, and was founder of the National Pursuit of Excellence Program - a recognition program for outstanding funeral homes in the USA. Richard has committed untiring effort, time and energy to the building of neighborhood, city and state and religious organizations. His passion for our community is shown by his involvement in many civic organizations and he has served as Chairman or President of many organizations, including the Weber State University Board of Trustees, and The Chamber-Ogden-Weber, the Weber County Fairgrounds Board and Ogden Pioneer Days.

Gregory R. Myers, CFSP is the eldest son of Richard and Gloria Myers. He graduated from Weber High School and then continued his education at Weber State University before pursuing his Mortuary Science degree at the University of Minnesota. He and his brother, Shaun, are two of a select few who hold bachelor degrees in Mortuary Science in the state of Utah. That expertise shows in the quality of their work. Greg has been serving the Brigham City area since 1980. Greg and Suzanne raised their three sons, Matt, Marcus and Scott, in Brigham City. Greg and the Brigham City Myers Mortuary employees are yearly recipients of the national honor, "Pursuit of Excellence Award". The Brigham Myers Mortuary has also been the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce "Business of the Year" award. Greg served as a board member of the Utah Funeral Directors Association for eight years. Compassion is the hallmark of his work with the bereaved.

Gregory R. Myers, CFSP

Shaun Myers, CFSP

Shaun Myers, CFSP is the President of Myers Mortuary. He serves in many community, state and national capacities. In funeral service, he has served as Past President of the National Funeral Service Foundation Board and as a member of the NFDA Executive Board of Directors. He graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota. Shaun and his wife Christina love to serve and give. They have participated in many service projects in Ogden City, Weber County, Ecuador, Mexico and Guatemala. He has served in many leadership capacities including, President of the Foundation for Hospice of Northern Utah, Utah Funeral Directors, the Utah Funeral Service Licensing Board, Mt. Ogden Rotary, Stake President of the Ogden Utah Stake, Mission President in Mexico, WSU Alumni Association and has been a member of the WSU Board of Trustees, and member of many committees, foundation boards non-profit organizations. His greatest love are his wife, Christina their six children and many grandchildren.

Marcus A. Myers, CFSP, currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Myers Mortuary. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 2002 and from Mesa Community College in 2008 with a Degree in Mortuary Science and Trigard University. Marcus married Melanie Scothernin of Tremonton in 2006; they reside with their children in Ogden. He is a graduate from Leadership University through the Chamber of Commerce. He is actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Board of Governors. He is involved in Rotary of Ogden and on the PAAG Board helping those in the community in many positive ways. Marcus volunteers at the Ogden Utah Temple as an ordinance worker. He loves to play softball, basketball and golf. Marcus plans, organizes and participates in the annual Ladies’ Tombstone Golf Tournament, a remembrance tournament, held at Schneiter’s Riverside Golf Course. Marcus is a huge animal lover and helps oversee Myers Pets at Peace facility. Marcus enjoys serving the community and being with his family.

Kent Christiansen, CFSP, CCO

Kent Christiansen, CFSP, CCO, is the General Manager and Chief Financial Officer of Myers Mortuary. He joined the Myers team in 2005. He graduated from Brigham Young University and also has a degree from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, where he was president of the student body and received the Presidential Leadership Award. He also received the Mu Sigma Award from the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science for outstanding academic proficiency. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1997.

Kent has served in many capacities on local, state and national boards. He served on the advisory board in the formation of the State of Utah EDEN (Electronic Death Entry Network), which became effective in August of 2006. He has served on the Utah Funeral Directors Association Board of Directors serving as District Representative and the legislative committee, and then each chair of the Executive Board, ultimately serving as President in 2014-15. He is also serving on the National Funeral Directors Board as a Policy Board Representative, which represents the state of Utah on a national level and served on the governance committee. He has enjoyed being a judge for the Best of State Competitions for our state of Utah.

Kent and his wife Shelli have four beautiful children. He enjoys family activities, traveling, woodworking, sports, and music. He is also active in church, civic and community organizations.

Manager of our Brigham City Mortuary, Laurie Vellinga Abraham, CFSP, CCO, is a native to the Brigham City area. Laurie graduated from Box Elder High School and Dixie State College. She received her Mortuary Science degree from Cypress College in Southern California. She became a licensed funeral director in the State of Utah in 2007, and began working with Myers Mortuary that same year. Laurie is a member of the Brigham City Rotary Club and has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award from them. Laurie, together with her husband and two children enjoy the small town atmosphere of the area. Laurie appreciates being able to lend a helping hand to families going through one of the hardest times of their lives and is pleased to be employed as a Funeral Director with Myers Mortuary.

Laurie Vellinga Abraham, CFSP, CCO

Shawn Kotter, CFSP, CCO

Manager of our Layton Mortuary, Shawn Kotter, CFSP, CCO, was raised in the South Ogden area. He is the son of Rey and Dian Belnap Wunderly, and the late Gary Kotter. He graduated from Bonneville High School, served a LDS mission in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and attended Weber State University where he played with the percussion ensemble and on the drum line. He attended Cypress College in Southern California where he made the Dean’s List and graduated with Honors in the field of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director in the State of Utah since the fall of 2003 and with Myers Mortuary since the spring of 2007.

Shawn, his wife, and their five children reside in West Point. He enjoys helping those families that are at such a tender and emotional time of their lives.

Manager of our Roy Mortuary, Tracy Franklin, CFSP, CCO, He grew up in Germany and South Carolina. He graduated from Summerville High School in Summerville, S.C. and received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Mortuary Science from Arapaho Community College in Littleton, Colorado.
He has been employed in the funeral industry since 1994. Tracy is registered as a Certified Crematory Operator with Cremation Association of North America. He is a member of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce. Tracy is a member of the Utah Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. He is also a member of the Utah Share Support group for Infant and Stillborn loss and the American Society of Embalmers. Tracy is a very caring, compassionate and proficient funeral director.

Tracy Franklin, CFSP, CCO

He is a current resident of Roy, Utah. Tracy is married to his wife Patricia and together they have seven children. He enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, cooking and is actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America.

Brandon Patterson

Manager of Evergreen Memorial Park, Brandon Patterson, associate since 1998. Brandon grew up in Huntsville and Roy, Utah. He graduated from Roy High in 1992. He attended Weber State University on a soccer scholarship where he studied Communication and Computer Science.

Brandon has overseen the continuous vison and growth of the cemetery, meeting the unique needs of the community that he proudly serves. He supervises all of the specialty programs held at the cemetery; including the Easter Balloon Release, Memorial Day Sunset Services, and the National Children’s Day Candlelight Vigil.

He enjoys running, boating, spending time with his family, and his time as a scoutmaster. Brandon and wife, Meagan, together have five children.

Reed Myers, CFSP

Reed Myers, CFSP has since retired from the Myers, but can still be seen helping around the Mortuary. He attended Weber State College and received his degree in 1966 from California College of Mortuary Science in Los Angeles, California.

He has been a highly respected funeral director who has served our community for more than 40 years. Reed especially enjoys providing his experience and professional expertise in serving families during their greatest time of need.

Reed has strong bonds of love for his wife Janice and their four children and nine grandchildren. He has been a member of the So. Ogden Kiwanis Club for 28 years. He served as club president in 1978 and 1979. Reed enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, organizing anything and fulfilling his church callings. Reed has had extensive experience in church service and leadership. He previously served as bishop of the Ogden 39th ward for ten years and is presently serving as South Ogden Stake Clerk.

The Academy of Professional Funeral Service has honored Reed Myers, CFSP, with it's highest honor as a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner.

Stephen Johnston, CFSP A native of Clinton, Utah, Stephen graduated from Clearfield High School and attended Weber State University and the University of Utah. Stephen graduated from California College of Mortuary Science, where he received the President’s Award for his academic achievement. He also received the MuSigma Alpha Gold Key Award given by the National Association of Colleges of Mortuary Science for his outstanding high standards and dedication to the funeral service industry. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1972. His special gift in the funeral home is his professional cosmetic ability in trauma restoration and major cosmetic restoration.

Stephen Johnston, CFSP

Stephen has one son and three grandchildren. He enjoys reading, playing golf and spending time with his grandsons. Stephen is a member of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce.

Tim Neal

Tim Neal associate since 1985. Tim is an Idaho native, and graduated from Malad High School. After high school, he attended Ricks College. After serving an LDS mission in the southern states he went to San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1968. Tim previously managed our Layton location for ten years.

Tim is known for his outstanding excellence and high standards. He is always willing to help his fellow co-workers and compassionately serves the families of our communities.

He enjoys building different projects, spending time with his family, and riding his horses. He and his wife, Nancy, together have seven children.

Matthew G. Myers, CFSP, CCO, graduated from Box Elder High School in 2000. He attended both Weber State University and Utah State University before obtaining his Degree of Mortuary Science from Mesa Community College. In 2008, he returned to Brigham City to work with his father, Greg, in the Brigham City Myers Mortuary. He resides in Brigham City and loves spending time with his children Emma, Jacob and Madelyn. He is a member of the service organization Kiwanis Club of Brigham City. He enjoys giving service to others and has been given the title of “Honorary Captain” at Hill Air Force Base for his efforts to integrate the soldiers into the community.

Matthew G. Myers, CFSP, CCO,

Wesley Riches, CCO

Wesley Riches, CCO was been with Myers since 2008. He enjoys serving the members of the community. Prior to working with Myers, he taught school for 13 years. Wes grew up in Sandy, but has made Ogden his home for more than 25 years. He earned a B.A. in Physics Education from Weber State University, M.ed. in School Psychology from Utah State University and earned his mortuary of science degree from Salt Lake Community College. He currently sits on the PAC board for the SLCC mortuary science program.

Wes and his wife Crystine have ten children. They serve in many ways in church and the community.

Skyler was born is Ogden and grew up in Roy, and so eagerly accepted a position at the Myers Roy mortuary. After returning from a full-time LDS mission in the Philippine islands, Skyler switched from pursuing a Fine Arts degree and attended mortuary school in Colorado. He had the opportunity to complete his internship at Myers Mortuary where he would later settle in. Many aspects of the field fascinate Skyler, but what he enjoys the most is meeting with families, listening to their family stories, and looking through old family pictures. Outside of work, he prioritizes spending time with his wife and son. He and his wife enjoy soccer, backpacking, and mountain-biking. He loves to draw, paint, and sculpt, and is currently writing a 3-book fantasy novel.
