Allen Dale Buckman, 53, passed away on Nov 24, 2023, in Brigham City, Utah. He was born on June 6, 1970, to Valerie Potter and Wendell Pabst in Salt Lake City, Utah as the first of many siblings. He was adopted by Paul Buckman, Valerie's loving husband.
Allen is an angel and always has been. He melted hearts. He had a contagious smile and laugh. He loved to spend time with family (and sometimes didn’t want to leave). He loved to do puzzles of any size, which he did with great patience and pleasure. He loved to listen to music and play the piano - especially “The Indian Song”. He was a peacemaker in that his spirit had an influence for good on those around him. He had empathy for how others were feeling. He loved to smile and say that he was happy. He loved birthday parties and wished every one he attended was his. He loved yogurt, ice cream, and graham crackers with milk. He was strong, and loved to arm wrestle. He loved to be the life of the party. He loved to give high fives (and high twos, and any other number). He loved to give a thumbs up and say “Ace”, or sign “I love you” or “hang loose”. Allen loved going to Camp Kostopulos where he rode horses, spent time with friends, and did many other activities.
Allen graduated from Highland High School’s Special Education program with the help of great teachers there. He was employed for years at the Work Activity Center, Deseret Industries, and other kind places.
Allen has always been an angel in spirit, but his physical health issues have been massive and hard. Valerie and Paul Buckman have taken care of Allen through thick and thin. It has been an intense labor of love that has spanned the decades. He was surely a man of mighty faith in heaven before he was born. He is destined for greatness. We look forward to meeting him in the next life, forever free of his Down’s Syndrome. He is a special and gifted son of God who has done a great work on the Earth in each of our lives.
During that last years of his life, he suffered many grand mal seizures. On November 24, 2023, after spending a beautiful Thanksgiving the day before, he had his last seizure. He was given a beautiful priesthood blessing by David, and he peacefully crossed to the other side at 5:45 am, holding Paul’s hand. Allen is Home! His heavenly home.
Our hearts go out to Valerie and Paul who gave their all in joyful sacrifice and love! They give and love and live consecrated lives! Our hearts are with you today and always.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Bryce Hathaway and Phillip Pabst, who have surely welcomed him with their eager and loving arms. He is survived by his mother, Valerie Buckman, his father, Paul Buckman, his birth father Wendell Pabst, his siblings Crystal Saulls, Becky Brillhart, David Pabst, Julie Cheever, Joseph Buckman III, Eric Pabst, Gene Pabst, Jeanene Tiffany, Jennifer Cline, Jon Pabst, Terrianna Bishop, Jason Buckman, Jessica Paradise, Jeff Buckman...and also Bethany McPhilemy, and Tanner Powless... and many other siblings.
Due to personal, difficult, and unfortunate circumstances, a funeral will not be held. Please be understanding.
