Donald Hicks Obituary

Donald (Don) Bruce Hicks, died January 11, 2024 at the age of 84. Don was born and raised in Jamaica, New York. At the age of 32 years old Don picked up and left the big apple and headed for Utah. Anyone who knew Don knew that he didn’t take life too seriously, and if given the chance he would add a bit of sarcasm and exaggeration to any story…no matter what it was!

People who knew him also knew him for his thick New York accent, his love of music, and his quiet introverted personality. Don was a simple man who required very little in life to be happy. As long as he had his guitar and music, he seemed to have it all. Don instilled the gift of music to his children and grandchildren. The love of music always seemed to make every family gathering special and memorable.

As Don's last remaining days were very tough, his family did what they knew best, they played the guitar for him. As Don couldn’t communicate anymore, he still moved his foot to the beat, and his lips to the lyrics.

Don was a man of god, and his faith was something he never wavered from. In his last days of life, you could see him raising his hand to signal the father, the son, and the holy spirit until he was too weak to do so. Don left this earth on 1/11 (111), the number “1” is one of the most powerful numbers. It is associated with a new beginning, leadership, and individuality. The Holy Trinity is made of three 1’s, which are The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. We would like to think he chose this day as his faith in God was so strong.

Don leaves behind many people who will miss him dearly, his four children, Kyle (Christel), Tracy (Paul), Luke (Trisha), and Trevor (Heidi); his adopted son. Thuan; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
