Ronald Maher Obituary

Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 5th, 2024 with his loving family by his side. He was born June 22, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Bernetta Bellman and Edward Maher and grew up in Kemmerer, Wyoming.

Ron joined the Air Force in 1954 and was a Radar Technician; this would be the beginning of one of his passions of airplanes and flying. After being honorably discharged, he went to work at Hill AFB. Ron became a Production Management supervisor in the F-4 Aircraft Weapon System. His job required him to travel, and he traveled all over the world. He also visited 49 of the 50 states. His love for flying led him to receive his commercial pilots rating with instrument certification. He was a flight instructor and was Chief Check Pilot for Ogden Civil Air Patrol. We always loved hearing his stories about those he taught to fly. Ron received his bachelor's degree from Weber State College and his M.B.A. From the University of Utah.

Ron married Marilyn Giorgis on September 13, 1958 and they were happily married for 55 years until her death in 2013. His greatest joy were his children and grand children and he delighted in spoiling them. He was an extremely generous man with his family and would drop anything he was doing to help us out if we needed him. He was a man of few words and never said much, however, he never would let you leave without an "I love you."

Along with flying, Ron enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing and boating. Later, he also enjoyed wood working and remodeling his home. His family was the recipient of many pieces of beautiful furniture that he made. We will treasure these forever and always.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; daughter-in-law, Wendy Maher; parents; and two brothers. He is survived by his son, R.J. Maher; his daughter, Tami (Van) Bingham; grandchildren, Brad, Brooke, and Tyler (Emmaline) Bingham and Megan Amber (Jordan) Gilbert and Britany (Jordan) Elmer; great grandchildren, Robert, Wendy, Cove and Hudson.

Special thanks to Enhabit Hospice for making his last days comfortable, especially Shalee, Baylee, Penny, Jody and Teresa. Also, a special thanks to Sharon Wardle for her friendship.

Celebration of life will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 6 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
