Cozetta "Cozie" Schaffer Obituary

Cozetta (Cozie) Diann Rockefeller Schaffer, 80, passed away on December 9, 2019 at Hidden Valley Assisted Living. Cozie was born January 24, 1939 in Los Angeles, California to Charles Emery and Edna Cozetta Rockefeller. She married Charles Henry Schaffer on October 14, 1962 in Downey, California. Together they raised 4 children, Pamela Joann (Ed) Diviney of Syracuse, Utah, Cynthia Ann (Gary) Pinkava of Murrieta, California, Cheryl Jo (Brad) Allen of Harrisville, Utah and Gregory Charles (Heidi) Schaffer Of Lewiston, Idaho.

Cozie was a registered nurse for 24 years.  She worked in Labor and Delivery at Kaiser Hospital in Bellflower, California.  After moving to Harrisville, Utah she worked at Ogden’s St. Benedict’s Hospital Labor and Delivery.  She also worked for Dr. Steven Kammeyer as his office nurse. In 1984 she started working as the occupational nurse for Kimberly Clark and retired in 1999. Cozie enjoyed oil painting, puzzles, traveling, visits from family members, and socializing with friends. Cozie and Chuck served in the Missouri Independence Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cozie is survived by her husband, children, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Doris Loomis who resides in Livingston, Montana, 6 nieces, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Loretta Ann who passed away at the age of 4 months and a granddaughter Cortney Joann Allen at the age of 6 months.

Cozie and Chuck have a close circle of friends from California, some who eventually moved to Utah and they remain friends still today.  They have also cherished the many friends they have made in Utah and from their mission.  The members of the old Harrisville 2nd Ward have been like family to Chuck and Cozie and have always been there for them.

Cozie loved the many people that had taken care of her at Hidden Valley Assisted Living and also appreciated all the Hospice staff that took amazing care of her.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Atti, Angelique, Leslie and the Memory Care staff at Hidden Valley.  Also, from AFI Hospice Wendy, Carly, Amber, Chante and Rhonda.
