Louis Byron Jensen

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away August 20, 2019 at his home in Brigham City, UT. Louis was born September 23, 1923 in Ogden, UT to Byron and Eliza Jensen. Louis gave a valiant fight with lung cancer.

Louis served in the United States Navy for 4 years starting in 1951, then switched to the United States Coast Guard and completed 21 years of service before retiring. He loved his country and he served it well.

He married Carol Jean Meske in 1953 and they were blessed with 7 children. Louis was a very devoted father and husband. He and Carol were sealed in the Anchorage Alaska LDS Temple. Carol passed away in 2006. Children of Louis and Carol are Rhonda (Gerald) Peterson, Thomas (Marilu), Jean (Don) Bowman, Mitch (Lisa), Karl (Suzi), Karla (Martyn) Duckett, Michele Thornton (deceased) and grandfather to 17 wonderful grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Louis married Janiel Whitaker and they were sealed in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple. Louis gained a stepson: Joe Wall. They had a wonderful companionship with each other. They were able to do some traveling, they spent 11 years in Quartzsite, AZ and 1 year in Mesquite, NV enjoying the warm weather together. Louis so enjoyed the neighbors and the children and the friendships he made with those that lived near him in Brigham City, Utah. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Janiel; 6 children: Rhonda (Gerald) Peterson, Thomas (Marilu), Jean (Don) Bowman, Mitch (Lisa), Karl (Suzi), Karla (Martyn) Duckett,; 17 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren;  3 sisters: Caroline (David) Rule, Geraldine McGaha, Kathy Aston; Brother: Tom (Audrey) Jensen and stepson: Joe (Nancy) Wall. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Michele; brothers: Don Jensen and Roy Jensen; sister: Beverly; brothers-in-law: Bill McGaha, Neil Aston and Richard Marble.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Brigham City Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
