Lowell Ross Staker

It is with great sadness that the family of Lowell Ross Staker announce his passing on Nov. 27, 2019, in Hooper, Utah, at the age of 84.

Lowell was born on Nov.  6, 1935, in Ogden, Utah, to John W. and Erma Ross Staker. He had two sisters, Clairene Staker Mathews and Jean Staker Tree.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived most of his life in Hooper.

Lowell attended Hooper Elementary, Springville Elementary, Davis Jr. High School and Ogden High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Lowell married Ruth Meldrum in Ogden, Utah. They had four children. They were later divorced. He married Sherry Boedeker Decaro in 1990. From their marriage, he gained three stepdaughters.

Lowell retired from Hill Air Force Base, where he was a missile mechanic. Lowell loved to be outdoors and spent countless hours fishing and hunting with family and friends. He also cultivated a deep appreciation for horses throughout his life and was a breeder in the American Quarter Horse Association for over 40 years.  With his wife Sherry, he enjoyed traveling, playing cards and working in their beautiful yard.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, sisters and one great-grandchild. Survivors are his loving wife Sherry; children Catherine Barker (Scott), Judy Wilde (Kim), Allen Staker and Linda Beard (Jason); stepdaughters Jan Davis (Kreg), Laurie Roberts and Christina Jean Hernandez; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Myers Mortuary at 5865 South 1900 West in Roy, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the same location. Interment will be in the Willard City Cemetery with military honors.
