Mason B Day “Mighty Mason”

Loved beyond words! Needed beyond this world.  Mason was born to his adoring family July 25, 2018 and returned to his Heavenly Parents August 18, 2019.  His parents Kristen Ritchie and Gregory B Day and his siblings, Sophia, Ruth, and Grant love their Mighty and brave little boy. Every one of his 388 days on this earth is a cherished blessing. Mason was Mighty with the courage and strength to live and he was such an easy going and patient baby.  He had some Mighty good times in the months that he was out of the hospital.  Some of his bucket list activities were: tasting ice cream, boating on grandpa’s boat, Drive-In movie, trips to the zoo, watch a summer thunderstorm roll in, dinner at a restaurant, and attend a Bee’s Baseball game. On Mason’s birthday, his Dad roasted a whole pig and invited a crowd to celebrate the grand occasion.  Mason had a real knack for making people feel happy with his sweet smile, sparkling eyes, and generous snuggles.  His Mighty spirit was born into an imperfect body with a rare disease, Dyskeratosis Congentia hoyeraal-hreidarsson Syndrome.  His struggles were real, but he endured them Mightily with patience, love and consideration to his family and caregivers.  We already can’t wait to be with him again in Heaven.  Our Mighty Mason just became even Mightier. 

Mason joins his brother Bennett and his two uncles Danny and Michael who were also affected by DC disease.  His cousin Henrie also helped welcome him into heaven.  He leaves behind his parents, two sisters, one brother, grandparents Kent and Jan Ritchie and Kirk and Vickie Day and his great-grandparents on both sides of the family and many, many aunts uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the LDS Chapel at 1957 S 3000 W, Syracuse Utah at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.

We want to sincerely express our deepest gratitude to Mason’s doctors and nurses at Primary Children’s Hospital and Davis Hospital, Andrea his hospice nurse, Jennie our genetics counselor, Myers Mortuary, and all of our kind and generous family, friends and neighbors for taking care of Mason and our family this past year.
