Arvel Edwin Stratford Obituary (1916 - 2001)

OGDEN - Arvel Edwin Stratford, age 85, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2001 in Ogden. He was born September 7, 1916 in Ogden, to George Edwin and Melva Olsen Stratford. He married June Taylor on August 14, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had been married 61 years. He was a member of the Wilson 2nd Ward and had served many callings in the ward and stake. He also served on a mission to Eastern Canada. Honesty was a hallmark of his dealings with others and his family. He was always a loving, kind, and thoughtful husband, father, and grandfather. Dad was a friend to all. His greatest love was for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Even as his health deteriorated, he loved spending time with them and hearing about their lives. Surviving are his wife, June Stratford; children, Janice and Keith Anderson, currently serving an LDS mission in Stockholm Sweden; Jean Ann and Gary Wilson, No. Ogden; Brent and Carol Stratford, Taylor; Linda and Lowell Wayment, Hemet, California; Kathy and Marlin Kirby, Taylor; Val and Jeri Stratford, Layton; Denise and Brad Sant, Stafford, Virginia; 30 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Keith and Lois Stratford, Wilson; one sister-in-law, Vera O. Stratford, Wilson; and two brothers-in-law, Dean Moyes, Wilson; and Doug Pierson, Bountiful. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.
