Beatrice Joyce Pingree Sparrow Obituary (1926 - 2007)

Beatrice Joyce Pingree Sparrow ROY - Beatrice Joyce Pingree Sparrow passed away August 22, 2007 at home with her loved ones by her side and returned to her Heavenly Father. She was born in Ogden July 8, 1926 to Verdi Lee Pingree and Beatrice Eliza Boyle. Joyce married Clyde Dee Sparrow October 20, 1944 in the Logan Temple. They had six children Patricia (Garry) Amidan, Richland, WA; Janet Sinclair, Murray; Deanna (Edward) Kleyn, South Ogden; Richard (Sherrie) Sparrow, Farr West; Marilyn (buddy) Sadler, Plain City; James (Margie) Sparrow, West Haven. Joyce is survived by Maxine Carling, Encinitas, CA; Lucile (Howard) Hoffman, Salt Lake City; Carl (Donna) Pingree, James (Joann) Pingree, and LaVern Pingree of Roy. Dee and Joyce have 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Roy. She graduated from Weber High School and she married her love Dee and they bought some property in Roy and lived there together for 62 years. Throughout her life she has served in many capacities in the church enjoying them all. She was a member of the Roy 4th Ward serving faithfully for many years. Her love for the Savior was evident as she lived a life of kindness and service to many. She leaves many dear family members as well as dear friends, but is now being greeted by many, as she believed life is eternal. She cherished the memories she made while serving in the Jasper Alabama Mission with her husband. The last few years Joyce and Dee have been working at the Roy Historical Museum as volunteers. She enjoyed giving tours of the museum having lived in Roy and being involved in the city development. She also worked for 12 years at Sparrows Home Furnishings with her family as well as the Layton American First Credit Union and the Standard Examiner. Joyce had many interests and received awards for her efforts. In 1991 she received the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Roy City Council. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. In 2003 she was honored as the Weber County Mother of the Year. August 4, 2007 she rode in the Roy Days Parade with Dee as the Grand Marshals. She was indeed a great homemaker, meals were served to many around a large family table. She faithfully attended ballgames, piano programs, school events, dance recitals, and any event that supported her children and grandchildren. Nothing made her happier and prouder than the accomplishments and happiness of her family. She loved being in the know and involved in the family until the last days of her life. Music was important in her life, she loved to sing praises to the Lord and belonged to many choir groups. She cultivated beautiful flowers and grew an abundant vegetable garden which she shared with family and friends. Her motto was "Waste not want not". Joyce was known for her beautiful warm smile, her joyful sincere greeting, and her desire to serve those around her. The family would like to express appreciation to Doctor Hansen and his office staff for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Roy 4th Ward building, 5300 South 2100 West in Roy. Family and friends may call on Friday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Roy Historical Museum.
