Our dear husband and father passed away March 13, 2015 in North Ogden. Blaine was born on Feb. 4, 1921, in Pleasant View, Utah, the son of George and Jeanette Mecham Wade. He attended school in Stone, Idaho and Morgan, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High. He married Fern Lucille Jackson in 1943, at which time he was serving in the Navy during WWII. He was truly a member of "the greatest generation". Fern passed away in 1967 and a year later he married Barbara Ballif.
As a youth he loved scouting and later served as scoutmaster in his ward, and took 35 boys to a national jamboree at Valley Forge. He assisted in the building of Camps Kiesel and Bartlett and received the Silver Beaver Award. Blaine loved woodworking and construction. He was co-owner and president of Precision-Bilt Homes and had served as director of the Nat'l. Assn. of Home Mfgrs.
Active in community service he was a member of the Utah Vocational Education Council and the Weber School District Foundation. He was a most generous, humble, kind and loving man, always thinking of others and willing to share everything he had. He was active in the LDS Church where he served in many positions, including the bishop and stake presidency. He spent years doing name extraction and indexing.
He enjoyed camping, reading, gardening, cooking and sailing at his beloved cabin which he built at Bear Lake, a retreat to be with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; 4 children, Sharon (Vern) Hadley, David (Lynne) Wade, Pamela (Phil) Vickery, Daniel (Ken) Kinsey-Wade; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons.
