Celia Williams Moon Smith Obituary (1925 - 2010)

Celia Williams Moon Smith OGDEN - Celia Williams Moon Smith, age 85, passed away on July 12, 2010. She was born June 16, 1925, to Verl and Rachel Williams Moon, in Cherry Creek, Idaho. She was married to Leland James Smith on April 5, 1951, in the Logan Temple by ElRay L. Christiansen, president of the temple. Celia graduated from Malad High School where she was a cheerleader. She moved to Ogden when she was 22. She worked at IRS for many years, retiring in 1989. Celia served many capacities in the LDS church, including Primary teacher, Primary president, Young Women's teacher, and Relief Society visiting teacher. Celia and Leland were ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple for many years, and were released to serve a mission on Temple Square in Salt Lake City in 1994 and 1995. Celia loved spending time with her family and supporting them. She loved listening to good music, going for long rides in the car, watching musicals, playing games with her family, and listening to scriptures on tape. She always kept up with what was going on with her sibling's families, talking to them almost every day. She always made sure that visitors had something good to snack on, and made sure her family was well-fed. Celia is survived by her husband, daughter Saundra (Doug) Stephens; two sons, Stephen and Lee; 4 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters, and 3 great-grandsons; 2 sisters, Helen Buhrley and Ralene (Charles) Nielsen; 1 brother Verlin Moon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 sisters, Sid Morris, Evelyn (Wayne) Beck, and Tessa Moon. The family would like to thank their friends, neighbors, and family for all their help and support. Funeral service will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah, on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at Myers Mortuary, on Sunday, July 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, July 19th from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
