Charles Fifield May
February 25, 1944 - July 16, 2026

Charles Fifield May left us on July 16, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on February 25, 1944, in American Falls, Idaho, and spent his childhood in Rockland.

Charles started his career at the Ford dealership in Tremonton, as a mechanic and parts manager, and later spent the rest of his career at Thiokol in Brigham City and Promontory.

He married Janet Lelia Hartley on November 9, 1961. They were married for 65 years until her passing on April 5, 2026.

He enjoyed metal detecting, collecting antiques, crafting bird houses out of old barnwood, and keeping his car in pristine condition. Charles was often found caring for his award-winning yard. His love for hunting and camping was only matched by his knack for storytelling that made campfires memorable.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving on the High Council and teaching Sunday School. He also served the community by coaching sports.

Charles is survived by his children, Charlene (Myles) England, Janalee (Michael) Blankenstein, Craig May, Jennie (Randall) Bruns, and Crystal (Jacob) Spencer; his siblings Jon May, Afton Jacobsen, and Leonard May; he is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet May; his parents Joseph Lee May and Anna Fifield; and his siblings, Joyce Claunch, Merrill May, and Philip May.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Monument Health Pioneer Trail, Bristol Hospice, and Myers Mortuary of Brigham City for the loving care and kindness they showed Charles in his final days.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Rockland, 1000 East Shoshone Street, Rockland, Idaho 83271.
