Duaine Raymond Simmons Obituary (1928 - 2014)

North Ogden/Brigham City - Duaine Raymond Simmons, was born March 30, 1928, to Raymond Cornelius Simmons, and Muriel Louise Chandler. He passed away at age 86 on November 20, 2014. His loving family stood vigil over him with great tenderness for days until the angels lifted his spirit to his heavenly home. Duaine graduated from Weber High School in 1947 and then fulfilled an honorable mission to the North Western States. Upon returning he joined the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. When on leave he married Klea Louise Allen in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 62 years. Together they were blessed with three beautiful children. After four years in the Air Force he returned home and became employed at Defense Depot where he retired after 30 years. He loved life, and enjoyed hunting, and skeet shooting. Each summer for 24 years he looked forward to his yearly pack trip into Yellowstone. His part-time job was buying and selling horses and mules, but he always had at least one good horse which he rode in the Weber County Sheriffs Posse of which he was a member for twenty years. Duaine's greatest joy was his family. He loved sharing time with them and giving encouragement. Duaine had a great love for the "Gospel of Jesus Christ", and held the office of High Priest, and enjoyed performing blessings, baptisms, and conformations to family members. He will be tenderly remembered by his loving family! He is survived by his wife Louise, his children: Jana (Russell) Bronson, and Tawna (Bill) Zampedri, 7 grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Scott Allen Simmons Services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brigham City Kotter Canyon Ward, 620 North 300 East, Brigham City, UT, Friend may call, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on November 26 from 12:00 - 12:40 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery.
