Evaleen Pill Muir Obituary (1920 - 2006)

Evaleen Muir BOUNTIFUL -- Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and frienda"Evaleen Bernice Pill Muira"age 86, passed away May 28, 2006, at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Layton, Utah, of natural causes. She was born February 6, 1920, in Salt Lake City, the second of four daughters born to John Lester and Violet Shaw Pill. As a child, she attended schools in the Salt Lake City area and graduated from South High School. On June 19, 1940, she married her sweetheart, Harold Harris Muir, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived most of their married life in Bountiful where they raised their daughter and son and were active members in the LDS Bountiful Fourth Ward. In addition to other callings, Evaleen served many years as a Primary teacher and visiting teacher. Evaleen enjoyed life. Her interests and hobbies included tap and ballroom dancing, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and needle crafting. Above all, she loved her immediate and extended family and found joy in being with them. After retiring from Smith's Foods main office, Evaleen volunteered many hours at the LDS Church Member Locator Center and in the Genealogical Extraction Department. Evaleen is survived by one daughter, Ilene (Joe) Young of Katy, Texas, and one son, Harold Harris (Julie) Muir, Jr. of Clinton, Utah. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Scott (Florence) Young; Jeffrey (Cindy) Young; Jeremy (Janece) Young; Jonathan (Valeria) Young; Corey Muir; Jennifer Young; and Jacob Young. She also has three great-granddaughters: Jearica Young, Anna Young, and Preslee Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and three sisters: Virginia Witham, Beverly Winger, and Carolyn Clark. The family wishes to thank the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice and Rocky Mountain Care Center. Evaleen had also lived in Country Pines where she was well-cared for and loved. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Roy, 5865 S. 1900 W., with Bishop Tom Foy officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary prior to services.
