George (Grass) Jay Freestone Obituary (1936 - 2009)

George Jay Freestone "Grass" PLAIN CITY- George Jay Freestone, 72, passed away on April 15, 2009 at McKay Dee Hospital due to complications following a sudden heart attack. He was born December 20, 1936 in Ogden, UT to William Sessions Freestone and Eliza Lenora Skeen. He married Sharon Gibson on April 27, 1956 in the Logan LDS Temple. After graduating from Weber High School, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Montana. Upon returning to Plain City, where he was a lifelong resident, he worked at HAFB and retired after 32 years. He enjoyed his time running a small family farm. He also enjoyed the outdoors, horses, hunting, and fishing. In his later years, he especially enjoyed the camping and ATV trips with his wife, children and extended family. He is survived by his wife and three children; Scott (Patti) Freestone, Jill (Mitch) Barker, Joel (Allyson) Freestone all of Plain City, UT; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. He is also survived by one sister and three brothers, Margaret Wingate of Farr West, UT, Lyman (Arline) Freestone of Roy, UT, Jack (Marcia) Freestone of Richfield, ID and Howard (Connie) Freestone of Plain City, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and one brother-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 6th Ward, 4375 West 2350 North, Plain City. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 19, from 6-8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary of Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
