Broad click here to listen to Funeral Recording Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and loving friend passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 94 years, 10 months and 5 days young. Haleola was born on May 7, 1916 in Kahuku, Oahu, HI. She married Lionel Allen Broad on April 17, 1932. She was a singer and musician, playing the saxophone, ukulele and her famous "stand up bass" throughout the Pacific Islands, and Southern CA., before her family moved to Utah. She also enjoyed teaching at Harbor Area Handicap Foundation and Montessori school in San Pedro, Ca. She was a chorister and choir leader in her LDS church for over 50 years. Along with her family, she owned and operated South Sea Island Magic Restaurant and Catering and a Polynesian Revue in Ogden, Utah. She raised 3 children, William Keaumoku (deceased), Bertha Leinani Adachi (Molokai, HI) and Barbara Kuulei Fonotisatele, Ogden Utah. She has 14 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren, and many more, because her home was always opened to anyone who needed comfort and a place to stay. She was GRAM to all who knew her. She was an active and avid sports fan and attended most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's football, basketball and soccer games cheering them on. The last games she attended were two weeks ago, at her granddaughter, Mylee Broad's soccer game, and her granddaughter, Jessica Clark's basketball game. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Rock Cliff LDS Church, 236 Porter Ave., Ogden. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, March 17th from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Myers Ogden Mortuary.
