Halu "Hub" Shino Aoki Obituary (1927 - 2015)

Halu "Hub" Shino Aoki passed away peacefully at her home, February 5th, 2015. Hub was born January 17, 1927 in Merino, CO to Karoku and Yukano Sasaki Shino. She graduated from Merino High School in 1945. Halu married Kiyoshi Aoki on January 10, 1949 at the Honeyville Buddhist Church and together they raised six children. Halu was a member of the Honeyville Buddhist Church since 1950, holding many positions in the Fujinkai and Sunday School. She worked at the Idle Isle dipping chocolates for several years. She later became a dental assistant to three doctors in the Brigham area for over 20 years. She loved music and singing and was a member of the Box Elder Symphonic Choir for many years. Hub loved to play softball, quilt, travel, play the piano, sew, head to Wendover, go fishing and tend to her flower garden. She was also an avid Jazz fan and enjoyed watching Tiger Woods. Her favorite trips were with her friends traveling on flower tours all over the country. Halu is survived by her children, Kenny (Janis) Aoki, Wayne (Linda) Aoki, Colleen (Dee) Tanner, Richie Aoki (Pam Covey) and Karen (Jason) Warner; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grand children and special friends, Kyle & Cori Sparks. She is survived by her sister, Sumi Enomoto, Aurora, CO and brother Bill Shino, Merino, CO. Halu was preceded in death by her husband, Kiyo, son Paul, parents, sisters, Kim & Lil and her brother June. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Honeyville Buddhist Temple, 6900 North 3945 West, Honeyville, UT. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Buddhist Temple. Interment will be in the Honeyville Cemetery. We would like to thank Richie for taking care of Mom and making it possible to keep her home with her family close by.
