Maxine Gunnell Wallace Obituary (1922 - 2008)

MAXINE GUNNELL WALLACE ROY - Maxine Gunnell Wallace, 85, passed peacefully on Friday evening April 4, 2008, at her home. She was the second child of nine children, born to Joshua and Hazel Gunnell in Cache Valley on August 31, 1922. She married her sweetheart, Glen Lewis Wallace on September 23, 1941. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with 67 years together. She is a wonderful mother to her seven children; Joan Goble, Salt Lake, Lerry (Brenda) Wallace, Heber, Lerene (Kevin) Tolman, Roy, Janet (Jim) Mayes, Roy, Rick (Monica) Wallace, Rexburg, Peggy (Scott) Poll, South Weber, and Wendy Coburn, Ogden. She is a long time member of the Roy 2nd Ward in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in numerous callings throughout her life. She worked for many years with her friends at the Uptown, Riverdale Drive-in and Cinedome Theaters. She enjoyed her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and kept busy with temple and family history work. Her talents were many and she found happiness in creating wonderful homemade gifts for so many. She was preceded in death by one brother, two grandchildren, Lori Vanaarle and Curtis Coburn, and one son-in-law, Gordon Goble. Maxine is survived by her husband, Glen, seven children, 30 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters; Reed Gunnell, Burke Gunnell, Gaye Freeman, and Joyce Ensigns of Cache Valley, Gordon Gunnell, Centerville, Dawn Perkins, Orem, and Beryl Cornum, Salt Lake. The family wishes to express appreciation to VistaCare Hospice and Myers Mortuary for their sweet and respectful care. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 2nd Ward, 5127 South 2400 West, Roy. Friends and family may call on Monday, April 7, 2008, from 6-8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, and on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m., at the church, prior to services.
