Janet Carruth Nelson

Janet Carruth Nelson, born June 23, 1946 in Ogden, UT, was a loving mother, generous sister, dedicated temple ordinance worker, and resilient woman. Janet lived her life with an abundance of kindness, always putting others before herself. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone she met feel important and loved. This was evident not only in her personal relationships but also in her professional life. As a financial aid advisor at Weber State University, Janet was dedicated to helping students navigate the often overwhelming world of college finance. She was a beacon of light and hope for many students during their academic journey.

Janet's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a pillar of strength and love for her seven children: Dannea Nelson, Bryce Nelson (Sharla), Alisa Kimball (Spencer), Joel Nelson (Tamarah Murphy), Brett Nelson, Kara Nelson, and Devon Nelson (Robyn). Her home in Pleasant View, Utah, was a gathering place for family and friends, filled with love, laughter, and good company. Janet’s amazing hugs and warmth will be missed by her 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and all the others she claimed as her own along the way. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her love for them was evident in everything she did. She is also survived by her sisters, Louane Livesey, Elaine Carruth, and Doris Housel who will forever cherish the memories of their sisterly bond.

During the last few months of Janet’s life, she made many new friends among those who cared for her at LDS, McKay Dee, and Layton hospitals. We want to acknowledge and thank the amazing doctors, nurses, therapists, and aides who personally cared for Janet during her valiant battle with cancers.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine and Marcella Carruth. Her resilience in the face of life's challenges was a testament to the strong values instilled in her by her parents. Two of her sisters, Carol Chase (Jim) and Mary Jean Carruth, also preceded her in death. Those who knew Janet were blessed by her generous spirit, loving heart, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

A viewing will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Pleasant View 10th Ward, 3602 North 500 West, Pleasant View, Utah, 84414. Another viewing will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the same venue. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th, Ogden, Utah, 84403.
