Julene Hancey Gustaveson Obituary (1927 - 2008)

Julene "Judy" Hancey Gustaveson OGDEN - Julene "Judy" Hancey Gustaveson passed away May 18, 2008 at home from a rare form of untreatable cancer. She was born in Hyde Park, Utah July 23, 1927 to J. Willard and Elvira Hansen Hancey. She married Loyd Gustaveson January 30, 1948. Judy was a graduate of North Cache High School. She was a member of the LDS Church where she held many teaching positions and later served as a counselor and then President of the MIA. She loved boating and water skiing. She also enjoyed camping and traveling in our 5th wheel trailer, especially with the grandchildren. One trip was special when we traveled around the United States. Judy also enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her creations with family, neighbors and those that were sick or disabled. Judy worked for Sego Milk Company as an inspector; she worked for Bushnell Hospital during WWII, J C Penny's and then 24 years for Smith's before retiring. She was a great sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the most important thing in her life. Surviving are her husband, Loyd (Gus); children Steven Gustaveson, Salt Lake City UT, and Lori (Todd) Boothe, Boise ID; her 3 grandchildren Matt, Allie and Ryan Boothe, Boise ID; and 1 brother Lynn (Roxie) Hancey, Providence UT; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Jan; her parents; and also 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden where friends may call on Friday, May 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Special thanks to all her friends and neighbors for their support. To Applegate Hospice, Dr. Moesinger and especially Dr. T.S. Sutherland for their dedicated care in her final days.
