Kirk J Thorne Obituary (1972 - 2017)

Kirk J Thorne passed away at his home on June 6, 2017 from a heart attack. He was born in Brigham City, Utah on March 23, 1972. He is the son of Jeff R Thorne and Sherry Jenson Thorne. Kirk has three sisters: Stephanie Thorne Wagstaff (Andy) of Lehi, Utah; Stacie Thorne Kotter (Dan) of Ashburn, Virginia and Heidi Thorne Baird (Adam) of Spokane, Washington. His parents and sisters survive him. Kirk attended schools in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School. Kirk enjoyed childhood activities with cousins from both the Thorne and Jenson families. He loved to hunt and fish with his father and cousins. Kirk enjoyed snowmobiling in Island Park and ATV riding in the mountains of Utah. He spent many summers working on the Thorne Family Farm in Perry. During his teenage years he was involved with scouting and with the young men in the 6th Ward and went on numerous high adventure activities to Lake Powell, the Wind River Mountains and Yellowstone. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Kirk served an LDS mission to the Seattle, Washington Mission. After returning, he began working as a long haul truck drive for Smoot Transportation and later became an owner-operator of his own semi. After years on the road, he began working in the family fruit farming business with his father and Terry Jones. His nieces and nephews are especially dear to him: Katya, Tasha and Drew Wagstaff; Mikelle, Logan, Sydney and Ethan Kotter; and Campbell, Bronson, Audrey, and Brody Baird. Kirk specialized in finding humorous birthday cards for all family members. He has a special relationship with his mother, who cared for him the last three months. After a lifetime of health issues, our loving Heavenly Father has called him home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel located at 205 South 100 East in Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
