Larane Nielson Kunz Obituary (1930 - 2017)

LaRane Nielson Kunz August 9, 1930 - April 5, 2017 LaRane Nielson Kunz, 86 years old, passed away at her home on April 5, 2017. She joins her father, Adin Nielson; her mother, Reva Breinholt; and two sisters: Beverly Childs and LaRue Baumgarten (LaRane's twin sister). LaRane was born August 9, 1930 into a loving home in Ephraim, UT. She learned to can, cook, and sew while working alongside her mother. Her father taught her to care for the sheep that provided the family's livelihood. She and LaRue stomped down the wool at shearing time (a sweaty, tick-ridden job), fed the lambs, and even modeled to show off the Nielson's prize winning Rambouillet sheep. After high school, LaRane and LaRue attended Snow College and then Brigham Young University. Shortly after receiving her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, she met Alma Laron Kunz. He won her devotion and love. They were sealed for Time and Eternity in the Manti LDS Temple April 17, 1953. Together they raised Michael (Belinda), Mary (Nick Whitehead), Melinda (Layne Harris), and McKay (Linda). In the home the children were taught to love the Lord and the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to value family. Their children have never doubted the love their parents have for them and the love their mother and father have for one another. This love was reiterated throughout Laron and LaRane's sixty-four years of marriage. LaRane faithfully served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Sunday School, Primary, and Relief Society. After retiring, LaRane and Laron served in the Oregon Eugene Mission, and they served together in the Ogden and Brigham City LDS Temples. Not only did LaRane work in her home and serve in her Church, she also spent 23 years as a teacher. She was so skilled at teaching, many parents made certain their first grader would be in her classroom. LaRane's absence is felt by many, including her husband, children, 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, younger brother, Richard; and her younger sisters: Jenny Lou (Jerry Norton) and Kathleen (Wendell Droubay). Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Perry Stake Center, 658 W. 2250 W., Perry, UT. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:10 p.m. at the Stake Center.
