Lavere W Rawlins Obituary (1936 - 2018)

LaVere W. Rawlins May 24, 1936 ~ August 12, 2018 LaVere W. Rawlins passed away on August 12, 2018, at his home in Ogden, Utah, after a long illness. His wife and sons were at his side. LaVere was born May 24, 1936, son of Velma Walton and Owen Woodruff Rawlins. He was raised in Lewiston, Utah, and graduated from North Cache High School. He served an LDS mission to the Northern States Mission and two years in the United States Army. On September 13, 1963, he married Lajune Stoddard in the Logan Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a ward clerk, stake clerk, bishop's counselor, bishop, stake mission president, and membership clerk. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Mike Stoddard (Jeanne), Paul, and Robert Owen (Colette), five grandchildren: Jake W. Rawlins (currently serving an LDS mission in the Philippines), Ryeli K. Rawlins, James Michael Rawlins, Emily K. Rawlins, and Jason Owen Rawlins; a brother, Rex (Sandra) Rawlins of Soda Springs; and two sisters, his twin, Vera Rawlins, of Brigham City and J'lene Rawlins of Logan. He leaves a legacy of service, duty, and the example of a simple life well lived. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the aides from Canyon Hospice who helped care for him, especially Ina and Jennifer. A viewing will be held in Ogden on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Lewiston City Cemetery, 1100 East Center Street., Lewiston, on Friday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
