Maida B. Christensen Obituary (1918 - 2006)

Maida Benson Christensen PERRY - Maida B. Christensen, 88, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Brigham City Nursing and Rehab. She has endured many years of pain and suffering. She was born on January 1, 1918 in Honeyville, Utah, daughter of Ezra P. and Varenna Collins Hunsaker Benson. She was raised in Honeyville and graduated from Box Elder High School. Maida was a member of the LDS church. She married Percy Ray Jones December 31, 1938 and lived in Bluff Dale, UT. His life was taken in a mining accident. She married June Daniel Christensen on December 13, 1942 and have resided in Perry, Utah their entire life. June preceded her in death on February 1, 1992. One of their great pleasures in life was going up to Island Park, (Yellowstone) to their cabin retreat in the summers and later in life to their condo in St. George for the winters. They also took several trips and cruises when June was involved in the Realty business. Maida had many talents. She was a gifted seamstress and made a lot of her own clothes. She was also a very good cook. She loved watching sports, especially football and basketball. She loved music and crocheted many beautiful afghans and dolls. Her greatest talent in life was winning friends; everyone loved her and she possessed a keen sense of humor which endeared her to so many people. She loved all her nieces and nephews and knew them all by name. She loved picnics and reunions where she could laugh and visit with everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother (Nolan), and her husband. She is survived by 2 brothers and 1 sister; Ezra LaMar Benson (Reva) Grand Island, Neb., Darel H. Benson (Myrna) No. Ogden, Utah, Charlene B. Petersen (J Dell) Thatcher, UT, also numerous nieces and nephews, brother and sister-in-laws and countless wonderful friends who will all miss her greatly. Services will be held on Wed. May 31, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E. Brigham City, UT. Family and friends may call at the mortuary Wednesday from 11:30 to 12:45, prior to services. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
