Marva Dene Parker Garrard (1930-2002)

ST. GEORGEa"Marva Dene Parker Garrard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned home to her Heavenly Family on November 13, 2002.

She was born January 16,1930 in Joseph, Utah, to Ariel F. Parker and Margaret Emerine Lott. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with a strong testimony of the gospel and a love of the Savior.

In 1951, she accepted a call to serve as a missionary in the Great Lakes Mission and touched many lives through her service. Upon returning home, she moved to Salt Lake City where she met and married her eternal companion, Ray W. Garrard.

During her life she served in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. Her compassionate nature, love of people and sense of humor enriched the lives of those she served and those whom she called "friend".

She was an avid reader and spent endless hours in sewing and quilting. The most coveted of gifts were those she made. All of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have been blessed by her talents. The beautiful quilts, pillowcases, clothes and famous embroidered Mormon Handicraft dishtowels are a constant reminder of her love of family and friends. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper and taught her husband to be the same.

Her passing has left a void in the lives of her family and friends that cannot be filled. Her laughter, humor and love will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Ray W. Garrard, daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Bob Nielsen, Shauna and Scott Simpson, DeAnn and David Wall, LeAnn and Pete Carreola, and Michelle Knight; 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Mary Parker, sister, Donna Wells, sister-in-law, Donna Parker, sister and brother-in-law, Norma and V. Bell and sister-in-law, Frankie Barney, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.

Our family wishes to thank all who have been so kind and thoughtful to our family. Your love, support and prayers have sustained us in our time of loss.
