Max Ellis Richins Obituary (1921 - 2018)

Roy- Max Ellis Richins, 96 passed away Thursday January 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 11, 1921 in Provo, Utah to Ellis William and Sarah Darlean Barrett Richins. Max married Marie Polly White July 28, 1942 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Max was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various positions in the ward and stake. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Max served in the military in the US Army Air Corps and the US Air Force. He served during World War II and the Korean War. As a civilian employee, he was involved in the Cold War. Max retired from HAFB and taught fly-tying at Dixie State College and to friends and family. He was a handyman who shared his skills with anyone needing help. He exemplified and taught integrity, fly fishing, fly-tying, golf, hunting, waterskiing, boating, camping, and square dancing. He enjoyed spending winters in Washington, Utah. He was a wonderful person who brought out the best in everyone, and made them feel special. Surviving are his children: Carolyn R McKean of Ogden, UT; Judy R Bennion Layton, UT; Max Thomas Richins Ogden, UT; Leslie Kim (Kelly) Richins Deweyville, UT; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, one brother, five sisters, parents, one son-in-law and one granddaughter. Special thanks to Lisa at Intermountain Hospice, to Dr. Jerry John and Dr. Zachary Campbell. To Joe Stokes and Lynn Everley for their weekly home visits and friendship. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6-8 pm and Thursday prior to the services 9:30 to 10:30 am at Myers Roy Mortuary 5865 South 1900 West Roy, Utah. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
