Neeltje Dekker Obituary (1914 - 2011)

Neeltje "Nel" Dekker Washington Terrace - Neeltje Dekker, 96, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2011. She was born November 11, 1914 in Den Helder, Netherlands to Adriaan and Cornelia Grootes Clowting. She married Cornelis Dekker on September 7, 1947 in Den Helder. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully on an LDS mission to the Netherlands with her husband. Neeltje enjoyed reading Dutch magazines, music, dancing and visiting family and friends. She had compassion for all people, especially children, and animals. Neeltje is survived by her daughter Lia (Bob) Peterson of Washington Terrace; 2 grandchildren, Ron and Brenda; 5 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ashton, Miranda, Holly and Bailey; also her sister Corrie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelis in 2004; two sisters, Petronela, Lies; three brothers, Rijer, Jaap, Frans. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery, 20th and Madison on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Special thanks to our second family at Birch Creek Hospice for their loving care.
