Newell Edwards Maughan Click here to listen to Funeral Recording Ogden - Newell Edwards Maughan returned home to his Heavenly Father on December 15, 2014. He was born May 18, 1934 in Wellsville, Utah to Ursula Ewell Edwards and George Q Nibley Maughan. He joined the Navy at age 17 and retired after 22 years of service. He was a loving husband and an excellent provider. He was a determined hard worker and was never idle, always working at a variety of jobs throughout his life. Newell married Ruth Estella Clark, whom he loved dearly, on November 12, 1954 in Ogden, UT; their marriage was later solemnized in the Hawaii Temple in 1966. Their union was blessed with 5 children, Danny (Shirlene) Maughan, Lorrie (Bruce) Riches, Thomas (Dee) Maughan, Edith (Michael) Tueller and M.C. (Abby) Maughan. Newell was a defender of the LDS faith and enjoyed missionary work. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; children; 21 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to the service from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
