Shaina Bowen Obituary (1977 - 2023)

It is with broken hearts we share with you that our beautiful daughter, Shaina Dee Chatelain Bowen, has returned to live with our Heavenly Father. She departed from this world on October 20, 2023, due to unforeseen health complications, leaving an unfillable void in the lives of her family and friends who cherished her deeply. Born on May 6th, 1977, to Tim and Dawn Nye Chatelain, Shaina was a force of nature from the start. Her radiant smile, contagious laughter, and boundless energy brought joy and inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit was magnetic, and she had a unique ability to draw people in with her warmth and compassion. Shaina's educational journey was a testament to her dedication and commitment. She proudly graduated from Weber High School and went on to pursue higher education at Weber State University and Salt Lake Community College, where she achieved her Associate of Science. Following her education, Shaina was married in the Bountiful, Utah temple to Derek Bowen, on June 20th, 2008. Following her academic pursuits, Shaina ventured into the world of dentistry, serving diligently first as a dental assistant and later refining her skills as an orthodontic technician. Her journey took a different turn when she embraced the dynamic world of retail management. Most recently, she held the position of assistant store manager at Old Navy in South Jordan. Shaina deeply cherished her role at Old Navy, not just for the responsibilities it entailed, but for the wonderful colleagues and team members she had the privilege of working alongside. Shaina was a woman of many talents; however, music was the very essence of Shaina's soul. She possessed a voice that resonated with passion, depth, and warmth, captivating all fortunate enough to hear her sing. It wasn't just about the notes or the melodies for Shaina; it was the sheer emotion and joy she infused into every song. The car, the house, the shower - there wasn't a place where her voice didn't echo, filling her surroundings with delightful music. Beyond the music that Shaina adored, there was another passion that brought her immense joy: shopping. But it wasn't merely the act of purchasing that she cherished--it was the entire experience, the hunt for the perfect piece, the thrill of a good bargain, finding the perfect gifts for her nieces and nephews, and the stories that each shopping trip narrated. Most precious of all were the moments she spent shopping with her mother, Dawn. These outings were more than mere shopping sprees; they were bonding experiences, filled with laughter, shared advice, and treasured memories. Shaina's relationship with her mother was more than just a shopping companion; she was her best friend. Their time spent together was filled with laughter, understanding, and an unspoken bond that few are fortunate enough to experience. Dawn's exemplary qualities of care, nurturing, and boundless love were those that Shaina earnestly strived to emulate. In many ways, Shaina's life was a reflection of the lessons and love she received from her mother. While many knew of Shaina's profound desire to become a mother, life's plans led her down a different path. While she couldn't have children of her own, she redirected her maternal warmth and affection towards her cherished dogs, creating a unique family that was perfect in its own way. Clide, the talented, skateboard-riding English Bulldog, and her two spirited Yorkies, Boo and Jaws, became more than pets; they were her children, her confidants, her joy. With them, she experienced the joys, worries, and warmth of motherhood, proving that family isn't always defined by blood, but by the love we choose to give and receive. Family was the cornerstone of Shaina's life. She shared countless unforgettable moments with her siblings, Shalise, Rhett, and Kourt, and was the vibrant Aunt to Xavier, Shealeigh, Tyce, Kade, Brinnley, Jonah, Taeten, Ryker, Makhai, Josie, Mylla, Malin, and Parks. To many, an aunt is simply a relative, but to Shaina, the title carried a depth of responsibility, pride, and boundless love. With each of her nieces and nephews, Shaina built individual bonds that were marked by inside jokes, funny Jersey accents, and countless memories. Whether it was providing a listening ear during turbulent teenage years, or simply being there for life's small moments, Shaina was the perfect aunt. Her adoration for each of them was evident in every hug, every piece of advice, and every shared laughter. To her nieces and nephews, Aunt Shaina wasn't just family; she was a role model and a beacon of unwavering love and support. Among the many cherished relationships in Shaina's life, the bond she shared with her father, Tim, was particularly special. Her dad wasn't just a parent but her hero, the benchmark against which she measured the qualities of strength, wisdom, and love. He embodied all that a man should be, and she often voiced her desire to find a partner who mirrored his virtues. Tim was her anchor, the voice of wisdom, and a comforting and constant presence in her life. Their relationship was more than just that of a father and daughter; it was a bond built on unwavering trust, respect, deep admiration, and abiding love. Shaina had a heart that recognized the beauty of family ties beyond the immediate circle. She held a special place in her heart for each and every one of her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She cherished each gathering, holiday, and visit shared in their presence. The unconditional support they provided formed an integral part of Shaina's life, and she treasured every moment spent in their company. In addition to her immediate family, Shaina leaves behind a host of friends, a loving roommate, colleagues, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. Shaina Dee Chatelain Bowen is survived by her loving parents, Tim and Dawn Chatelain. She leaves behind a close-knit family of siblings: her sister, Shalise, who is married to Dell Stilson; her brother, Rhett Chatelain, and his wife, Shantel; and her brother, Kourt Chatelain, married to Jamie, along with all 13 of her nieces and nephews who were mentioned above. Each of them, along with their families, will cherish the moments, memories, and lessons shared with Shaina, carrying her legacy forward. To honor and remember the beautiful life of Shaina, a viewing will be held on Thursday, November 2nd, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, located at 845 Wash. Blvd, Ogden UT 84404. There will be a separate viewing the subsequent morning, November 3rd, from 10-11 a.m. at the Stake Center, 900 East 2850 North, North Ogden, Utah 84404. The funeral services will commence immediately after, beginning at 11 a.m.. Following the services, the interment will take place at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, located at 526 2850 North St, North Ogden, UT 84414. All who knew and loved Shaina are invited to join us as we celebrate her remarkable life and say our final farewells.
