Sherma Gay Payton Obituary (1937 - 2015)

Sherma Payton Sherma Gay Payton led a most romantic life. Born and raised in Mountain Home, Utah, she was the youngest of four children and the rodeo queen of Vernal. While working in Little Valley she met the love of her life, Bill Payton. Bill caught Sherma's eye with his good looks and persistence in asking her out until she finally consented. Sherma really fell for him though, when he did not buy her picnic lunch at an auction, but then proceeded to eat the lunch with her and the man who had bought it. Following her three-month trip to Europe and many exchanged letters Bill and Sherma were married in 1959. Sherma strived to fulfill every calling she received in the church, most notably, while serving as a young women's president, she saw a need for every girl who got married to have a beautiful cake. Since Sherma was a master at decorating cakes she made every woman who got married a cake, whether or not they could pay. She is survived by her two children William (Sarah) Payton and Kimberly Payton and her granddaughters (in order of beauty) Jessica, Mckenzie, and KameAC. also brother Jerry (Georgia) Morrell. She will be missed, but we are so glad Sherma and Bill are once again able to dance around the room together. Funeral services will be Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Honeyville Ward Chapel, 2620 W. 6980 N., Honeyville, UT. Friends may call on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Friday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
