Vaughn D Fortie Obituary (1928 - 2012)

Vaughn D Fortie North Ogden - Vaughn Fortie returned to his Heavenly Father and was reunited with his son and other family members on January 18, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Vaughn was born December 29, 1928 to Dean Fortie and Adeline Mae Davis Fortie in Heber City. He was raised in Preston, Idaho. Vaughn married Luanne McFarland on August 13, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Vaughn served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ben Lomond 12th Ward. He loved to serve and held various positions. He could fix, repair or build anything. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially family get-togethers and camping trips. He loved his grand-dogs. He was always concerned about others and put their welfare ahead of his own. He could talk to anyone and was a friend to everyone. He is survived by his wife, Luanne; son, Lynn (Susan) Fortie of North Ogden; daughter, Denise (Scott) Schvaneveldt of North Ogden; daughter-in-law, Kathy Fortie of Smithfield; 9 grandchildren, Kim (Andy); Jen (Clay), Lindsey, Whitney, Colter, Kristin (Justin), Tyler (Bree), Seth (Sierra), Elder Kaden Schvaneveldt (serving in the Washington Spokane Mission) and two great-grandchildren and one on the way. Vaughn is also survived by a brother, Dwain (RaVae) Fortie of Ogden and a sister, Radine (Evan) Harris of Preston, Idaho. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Vaughn Fortie and two grandsons, Matthew and Michael. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Ben Lomond Cemetery. Friends may call at the Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the LDS Missionary Fund or your favorite charity.
