Wanetta Roper Wayment Obituary (1926 - 2015)

Wanetta Roper Wayment December 16, 1926 - August 14, 2015 Wanetta Roper Wayment passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 14, 2015, at the age of 88. She was born on December 16, 1926, in Oak City, Utah, to Bert and Nellie Jacobson Roper. She was the eighth of nine children. Wanetta spent her early years in Oak City, attending Oak City Elementary and then graduating from Delta High School in 1945. After working for a brief time in Delta, at the Service Drug Store, she moved north to work at Hill Air Force Base, where she met and married her sweetheart, Victor Wayment, in Clearfield, Utah, on December 16, 1949. They were later sealed for time and eternity on August 15, 1980 in the Ogden LDS Temple. Wanetta and Victor made their home in Clearfield for 64 years. Victor preceded her in death on December 25, 2013. They are finally together again. Wanetta was a devoted wife and mother. She was sweet, patient, and stoic in her afflictions. She never complained. She loved to crochet and make quilts, which she gave to her children and grandchildren. Gardening was also a favorite pastime. Wanetta was an excellent cook, especially delighting her children and grandchildren with her wonderful sugar cookies. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School. She and Victor also participated in Temple Work. Wanetta is survived by her children, Kathy (Gary) Jepson, Alan (Kathy) Wayment, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and brothers, Charley Roper and DeVon (Birdie) Roper. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Special thanks to Terry Jessop for his kindness and care while she lived at Chancellor Gardens. Thanks also go to Dr. Corey Erickson and his nurse Claudia at Westside Medical, Specialty Nursing Services, and the staff at Chancellor Gardens who extended kindnesses to Wanetta. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Monday from 11:45 - 12:45 p.m., prior to services. Interment in the Warren Cemetery.
