Wilbur Presby "Wib" Cook Jr Obituary (1920 - 2013)

Wilbur Presby "Wib" Cook Jr., 92, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on January 24, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church 140 N. Tyler Ave, Ogden, Utah on Friday, February 1st at 11:00 a.m. The family will meet with friends and family during the hour before the service. Wib was born on June 9th, 1920 to Muriel Ruth Ogden and Wilbur Presby Cook. He had one sister, Lorraine Cook, who preceded him in death in 2008. He graduated from Ogden High School, and later from the University of Utah. He joined his parents at Cook Realty and became a commercial real estate appraiser; retiring at the age of 83. In 1957, he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dot" Peterson, who preceded him in death in 2003. He was a loving "Big Daddy" to two daughters, Ginger Weirich and Lori Lovelady (Graham), and was the proud "Papa" of eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Wib was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He was a man of prayer who had a strong, intimate relationship with God. He was always there to help others and his life was a testament to his belief in Jesus. Wib held leadership positions in numerous organizations including, the Ogden Association of Realtors, the Northern Utah Chapter of Real Estate Appraisers, Weber County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol, the Utah Search and Rescue Association, and the Pine View Yacht Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Royal Order of Scotland, and the Shriners. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and enjoyed stories of the western frontier. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting rocks, and playing poker. His most treasured moments were spent sharing memories of his childhood with family and laughing over a good joke.
